8years to a guy that might be one hit away from the end? Don't like it.

He has become the most overated player in the league.

Players more than 30 shouldnt be able to aign more than 5 6 years deal.

The cap hit is fair maybe 1 m too much but the term is crazy 4 years would have been great. Another lockout is coming soon enough.

Agreed. Length is little long, but no way Boston was not going to retain him.

Injury history is nothing alike between them...

Solid deal. I hope this doesn't turn into a defend Bergeron against the "what about his injury history" crowd. If you don't see how Bergeron is easily worth $6.5m for 8 years to the Bruins I don't know what someone can really say. You're obviously not a Bruins fan so next time your team plays the Bruins, watch how much your favorite player struggles against him - he's more than likely out there against them.

The Rask deal though....

As a Habs fan I have to say it's a good signing. Bergeron is worth that cap hit and even the contract length. I know many are saying he's one hit away from being forced to retire. But one hit could also be the end of players without his injury history.

You don't think the bruins put in a clause in the contract for their own protection if he gets hit again? Come on people.

Crosby is one hit away from having his career ended, what a terrible signing by Pittsburgh too.

This deal is insane. There's no way Bergeron's head makes it through 8 more seasons safely.

Fair dollar amount, but should be 3 years max.

Awesome signing for an awesome player. Bruins will have 2 big tests coming in the mid-future. Chara's and Bergeron's retiring....Until then, they will be a good team and has some time finding their replacements if it's possible. I did say before that I thought he was a top 5 player in the league. Yep...might have exagerrated here, pretty biased when it comes to an ex-QMJHL player.... But I have NO PROBLEM putting him in a top 10 list. As complete as a whole lot of players in this league.

Proven clutch player on top of everything, great at all those little things like something called faceoffs, and has to face the toughest matchups of them all.

I love how all you fans on HF are mind readers & label players as not "team players" as far as $$ goes !

Does anybody know that Rask might have been looking at $7.50 mil a yr & gave a so called team discount to the $7 mil he got ? !

Nobody does, so don't label Rask.
I bet if he was a good old Canadian boy there would be no such talk !
Wow.

Why do people keep regurgitating this? Every player is "one hit away" from ending their career...that's the nature of the league. That's why every contract is insured, and that's why there are provisions in place (LTIR, etc) to protect teams should players suffer career ending injuries.
