The Panthers and Oilers are both rebuilding with the Oilers a couple of years further along.

The Panthers have bet the farm on Markstrom as their goalie of the present and future. Only time will tell if that gamble pays off but the team literally has no plan "B", since there is no goalie depth in the system. Bottomline is that Markstrom is not getting traded unless a goalie is coming back with a major over payment. Not arguing that Markstrom is worth it BTW, since only time will tell. No reason for the Oilers to make such a trade as it would probably hurt, rather than help their rebuild.

Bjugstad may or may not reach his potential. But, within a couple of years, he will grow into his body and become a 250 lb monster on the ice in terms of size. He may also grow a bit taller. He already skates well for his size, handles and protects the puck well, passes well and has a good shot. IF and it it is a BIG IF Bjugstad continues to improve as he matures and develops a bit of a nasty streak then he will become a nightmare to play against. Since it usually takes big fellows longer to develop, there is a chance that Bjugstad improves dramatically in all areas of his game, save for his on ice vision, which will likely remain good not great. Hard to see any team trading that kind of player absent a huge over payment..

Having Barkov and Bjugstad as their 1 and 2 C's seems like a good future combo. I don't see why Florida would move him. There's not many 6'6" C's with his skill set floating around the NHL.

Anyways the OP asked what the value would be. The world now knows that Bjugstad is an elite blue chip prospect

You just called a guy a troll in another thread and you're telling people to play nice? By the way I would delete that quickly

@oilers84
im assuming that one is sarcastic...? but no either way. i dont think we'd trade bjugstad alone for that let alone petrovic as well who we are also very high on, i hope petrovic takes over the 6th spot this season. he looked great in his call up stint and just finished his 1st year in the ahl, hes been developing very nicely and wouldnt have an interest in trading him.

I would hold on to Petrovic as well. I liked him in Red Deer and will be following his career. I was pissed when the Oilers took Pitlick over him

lol, no. That's like me saying:

To fla
Yakupov
Nurse

To edm
Upshall (Just like your Hemsky salary dump)
Robak

That's laughable as well which is why I would never propose something silly like that, but that's exactly what you proposed from our point of view.

I wouldn't say he's overrated he's a player they need and have no desire to trade. Of course you would have to over pay when it's a good young player that is exactly the type of player the team needs to get him from the said team.

Because Tallon and the coaching staff think very highly of him and Tallon himself called Bjugs the best looking prospect in last years camp even with Huberdeau there. He said Bjugs "looked like a man among boys out there".

And every other proposal thread on HFboards that has FLA in it seems to include Bjugs. If he's so overated why does everyone want him? Guarantee those teams that passed up on him during his draft year are all regretting it right now because his floor IMO is 2nd line center right now. He's 6'6 @215lbs as a 20yr old. You can't teach size.

Answer me this, how many centers in the NHL are 6'6" and 220 lbs? And then how many of them are or projected to be a top 6 center in the NHL within the next yr? Those guys are so extremely rare and when you're talking about a rebuilding team like FL, they have little to no motivation to trade a guy like that. So is it really that he's overrated or just that he is more valuable to the Panthers than he would be in ANY trade right now?

Overrated, ha. Ya, he should play 3rd line centre for the Oilers and not be a top 6 for the Panthers. If any of you Oilers fans in this thread actually watched him play at University of Minnesota...he draws comparisons to Getzlaf (my opinion seeing both play quite a bit) and Jeff Carter. But ya, he's a bum

Well this escalated quickly...

And Florida has no interest in moving Bjugstad. They "Traded" Knight to Calgary because of the center depth they had.

There are cheaper options.

Value wise I'd say Bjudstad for Klefbom is close in value but since defense is not a need for Florida, Edmonton would have to add if they are still interested. Probably both teams say no.

Uh oh, we signed Winchester. Gotta trade Bjugstad now.

I'm not sure they lose, as they already have better centres than Bjugstad.
