While I want Zus no where near second line center next year I'd say he well out performed expectations in the playoffs. 3 goals 8 assists and a +7. 11 points in 23 games from him? hell yes

Ok. There is a .001% chance. So basically no chance. If he makes the team it isn't going to be in a top 6 role.

If he does, I would have to give you props.

Wondering if Saad would ever get a chance if Pirri/Leblah don't stick. I know they tried him at C at the prospect camp a few years ago and I seem to remember him taking some draws on the PK and 4 on 4. Most of those might have been cause his linemate got kicked out, though. Just throwing it out there, especially now since it seems Sharp and Bickell are pretty much guaranteed to be the top 6 LWs.

I don't think so. With Leblanc, Pirri and Danault all chomping at the bit for jobs on the Hawks - the last thing the Hawks need is another center added to the equation.

I’m leaning toward Handzus as well and I certainly hope I’m wrong when I say that Q gives the impression that he isn't high on Pirri. As for LeBlanc: it’s probably unfair but based on his short stint as a Hawk, he needs some time in RFD.

I reckon the leash on Pirri remains quite short, however I can only hope Q shows the same patience with him as he does with the core players and gives him a chance to find his game at the NHL level. Of course Pirri needs to show responsibility without the puck, but the last thing he (and the team, in the long run) needs is for Q to stifle his creativity on offense and try to force him to become some great defensive player.

That's where I think playing with Sharp and Hoss as his linemates would really help him out. Obviously they're two very great players offensively, but they can definitely help shoulder some of the defensive responsibilities for Pirri. They did it fairly well for Kane, but Pirri should at least be more prepared since he's been a professional center for a few years.

I certainly see what you're saying. I was just pondering it if Pirri and Leblah don't pan out this year. We definitely know Saad has very good awareness and positioning for a player of his age and definitely belongs in the top 6. Saad has shown he can play as the 3rd wheel with two great players, I'm interested to see how he will do for a full year if he's playing with Shaw and Morin/Smith/whoever on his line.

Mark Lazerus ‏@MarkLazerus 2m
Joel Quenneville says Handzus will not start the season as #Blackhawks' second-line center. Sure seems like Pirri will get the first shot.

So there's that.

I'm so sure. Q receives HF updates on his smart phone real-time. To think for an instant that we don't make a difference shortchanges us as armchair analysts. Because on July XX, Q said it to Lazerus LMAO.

Sorry, big on sarcasm. Apologies. Point was anything Lazerus gets on July 11th/12th, 2013 doesn't carry much weight as far as next season's lineup goes.

That's what I thought you meant, it just wasn't clear to me.

It's certainly better than him saying they are keeping their options open at least. We all know it's likely about 5 different people will play in that role throughout the season though.

Just speculating, but I think he starts the year in Rockford even with a strong camp just to get his feet wet playing the pro game. That doesn't mean he finishes there though. On Pirri my biggest concern is whether he wants to go to the tough areas or not. If he doesn't I could see Danault maybe bumping him later in the year.

Over/Under on the number of games played before Brandon Pirri ends up in the "Chateau Bow Wow"?

My guess is 8.

What has LeBlanc ever proven to warrant all this hype that he can hold down a 2C role for this team?

Meanwhile Pirri leads the AHL in points as a 22 year old on a very average team.

I don't see how LeBlanc is even in the picture.

Apparently he looked amazing in his whopping two games last season. It's an absolute joke.

that's how I see it too

Pirri gets the shot and while scoring some pts, he will get demoted in the lineup because of his D/turnovers
