Kaleta is the biggest piece of **** in the league.

No one on his team likes him, no one on the opposition likes him.

3 deals I'd like Oil to make:

Gagner + 1st
For
Ryan Johansen + N. Foligno

Hemsky + 6th rd pick
For
Moss + Klinkhammer

3rd + 5th
For
Dorsett

Hall-Nuge-Ebs
Perron-RyJo-Yak
Foligno-Gordon-Moss
Dorsett-Klinkhammer/Lander-Jones/Brown
Smyth (bench/press box)

DEAL 2:

To Buffalo:
Nick Schultz

To Edmonton:
Patrick Kaleta

Oilers get a 2nd unit powerplay guy who can play mid to bottom pairing minutes with Ferrence in Jack Johnson. Nick Schultz... I'd be happy to get anything for him and would be thrilled to get a third-line-shift-disturber in Kaleta.

Buffalo will most likely not let go of Kaleta, but here's a sampling of him:

My gosh.... what a puke. I love him already.
Tambellini ostensibly lost his job for trying to deal for Jack Johnson, is what I've heard. MacT took a firm stance and made a strong argument against JJ and the decision to promote him came a couple of days later and the announcement a few days after that. Can't disclose my source but I'm willing to bet that Bob Stauffer and Jim Matheson (at the very least) are acutely aware of the details and you could probably ask them off the record.

Whyyyyyy? Johansen hasn't even proven he can be an NHL player yet let alone a 2nd line center.

I'd rather keep Gagner over Johansen, but I love the other moves. Klinkhammer is really underrated.

Hemsky (retain 1.25 mil), Lander to Phoenix for Vermette. Phoenix now has Ribiero and Hanzel making 8.6 million combined and Vermette has 2 years left at 3.75 so they might want to move him along. Lander gives them a solid prospect that will be a bottom six center sooner than later and is cheap. I feel Vermette's speed will fit in well on our team and although he is average size (6'1" 200 lbs) he did have 63 hits in 48 games last year. Career highs are 27 goals and 65 points, so he does have some offense to go with a solid 2 way game and is always in the top 15 FO%. Hemsky could lead their team in points if given first line ice and #1 PP time.

If we could get Vermette I would look to send Gagner to Winnipeg along with Smid for Bogosian and Cormier. Would prefer to send N. Schultz instead of Smid, but you've got to give to get. Still would want a 3rd line RW. Maybe Ward from Washington for Musil and a pick?

Hall RNH Eberle
Perron Vermette Yakupov
Jones Gordon Ward
Eager Cormier Brown
Smyth/Jonseuu

Ferrence Petry
N. Schultz Bogosian
Klefbom/Belov J. Schultz
Larsen

Dubnyk
Labarbera

Hemsky was the left wing on Ebs line for a very short time when Hall went down in his first season. (Right before Gags joine the 42 club) Eberle IMO would translate to a pretty good LW he scores quite a few goals from the left side on the PP.he scored a ton in 2012 playing the left side point especially.

Antoine Vermette would be a great fit here if Phoenix is willing to shop him but I doubt they are.

I wonder what it would acquire Marcus Foligno? He didn't have a great season in Buffalo... but he's a tank.

I'd rather acquire a more offensive 3C and roll 3 lines.

Perron - RNH - Yak/Eberle
Hall - Gagner - Yak/Hem/Ebs
Jones - 3C - Yak/Hem/Ebs (whoever is in the doghouse, basically)
Smyth - Gordon - Josen-something

honestly, I thought some games Hemsky looked better than Yak. Yeah, I know towards the end Yak was tearing it up, but I cannot decisively say Yak will be better the entire season. We all know the Dal-blender will happen occasionally.

Hemsky retained at 2.5M is still not that valuable for only 1 year.

Looking at the Coyotes roster, I don't see a trading partner with the Oilers. Their roster is pretty much set other than some 4th line wingers and depth, plus they are set on D and have lots of good young D / prospects.

Boedker - Ribiero - Vrbata
Korpikoski - Vermette - Doan
Klinkhammer - Hanzal - Moss
Bissonette - Chipchura - McMillan

To be honest I have no idea why Eberle wasn't put on LW for atleast a few games last year given the circumstances.
It baffles me that Krueger would start a rookie on his off-wing (Yakupov) over a player that's experienced in scoring goals in that position (Eberle).
It's decisions like that that make me support Krueger's dismissal.

That's actually one if the best lineups I've seen them ice in a long time. If a few if their young d-men like Schlemko & Stone pan out, they could do sone damage.

Any chance RNH doesn't get 6 mill/year on his next contract? He hasn't done much to earn it IMO which may be a good thing for us..

How? By growing 4 inches?

I don't think many question his offensive abilities, I think it's pretty widely established that his size and style of play don't suite the makeup of the Oilers' top 6.

Affirms my theory that Tambellini wasn't a handcuffed minion but rather an incompetent boob.

Boob.

We could probably sign him for less than Gagner if we tie him up early.

I get the feeling they give him half a season before starting negotiations. If he's close to a point a game, he'll get his 6, if he's got closer to half a point a game it'll be closer to 5.5-5.75

No kidding, they just have to survive behind OEL, Yandle, Morris, Michalek, and Klesla. Plus they have Runblad, Murphy, Gormley waiting in the AHL.

I wouldn't mind 3 years, 3.5 million per - exactly like Duchene.

Nevermind, Duchene was for 2 years. I'd do 3 years for 4 million per. After that he can have his 6 million per (no one gets paid more than Hall).
