Bergeron is going make 6.5 over 8 years.

He'll probably be a 60 point guy.

he's a 2C

I don't think it's that much of a joke.

Ugh, I'm not super keen on the idea, but the Ron Hainsey idea isn't half bad.

He seems to have played some pretty tough minutes(most ES and PK), and didn't get a lot of PP time.

Anyway watch the Jets much? Can they comment on how Hainsey did?

Bergeron is getting paid for the points that don't get scored against his team too though. He's one of the top 3 two way C's in the game and he's only 27 years old.

He's also a 6'2, Selke caliber defensive player.

A 40-50 point Couturier is better for our team than a 50-60 point Gagner IMO.

Patrice Bergeron, a 2C?

That is definitely a joke.

So LA signed Muzzin for $1M/yr deal. Rumored to sign Trevor Lewis for a similar amount. I think the Kings can get it done (with regards to Clifford and Nolan).

He's was clearly behind Krejci, who was producing at a Smythe pace.

but, on any other team, he would probably be 1C.

What was Tambo going to give up for JJ is the real question. He's not great but he better than pretty much every defender we have

Muzzin for $1 million is ridiculously cheap. That's the type of player I would like to have on the Oilers. I would easily have thrown $2+ million at him to play for the Oilers (of course I don't have $2 million so it would be Katz's money. ).

For JMFJ?

JMFJ. Give up Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, Nurse... together. JMFJ. Yes.

Jack MF Johnson.

Yes.

Is anyone else thinking it might be best to deal Gagner at this point?

Arbitration is suicide and too much of a risk to take. I understand the lack of depth at C, but the thought of having this top six long term doesn't make sense. Either Gagner or Perron are likely not here long term. I went out on a limb and said Perron will not finish his current contract as an Oiler, but maybe Ganger is the casualty.

Yes until we hear that Mac T has ordered a custom exercise bike the Penner rumors should just be put to rest.

I've thought the same thing about Perron. Pump and dump. Not sure how you deal Gagner without getting a C back. I think any deal would have to be big - a lot of pieces.

Go look back at the last 10 years of arbritration and how many players signed the night before or day of.

I don't think we'll find a better 2LW than Perron that's available..

Except Couturier can't even get 30 points.

Yes, a player who was a prolific junior scorer, drafted 8th overall, and has been playing on the 3rd line in a shutdown role with offensive blackholes won't improve.

You also didn't mention how Gagner hasn't hit 50 points.

I know, still the risk is there, and is a UFA Gagner at age 24 a calculated risk? We can't gamble with such important assets.

Also, do you think we can run this top six as we try to move in to a higher echelon of teams? I'm not sure. Maybe Perron is a short term fix, maybe not, but MacT has to cover his bases, and waiting til the final day to ce to terms before arbitration again is dangerous.

At the very least I hope he has a contingency plan.

How about m.martin from the islanders for some smackdown on the 3rd line.. what would be his asking price/availability?

also wonder about Shore from Florida for a 4th line C.. a youngster.. up and comer big body and a great faceoff guy so far.. would fit in great.. any word on his asking price/availability?
