If WMB comes back and plays well, he's got 3rd locked up. Iggy earned short. Do we platoon a guy making 9 mill? I feel bad but we must.

I don't think he deserves all the hate he gets. But I'm good with having him sitting sadly.
Fair enough, and if WMB does play well when he comes back then of course 3B is his. It's not like he is lighting AAA on fire though. He is hitting .258 (although the 6 dingers is nice). Bogaerts is seemingly outplaying him at a much younger age. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get an opportunity if he keeps playing the way he is.

19 come from behind wins, 8 walk-offs, amazing how Farrell has just re-energized this group along with Victorino and Gomes.

And I'm dead serious about giving Bogaerts a promotion soon. His confidence is through the roof. All the promotion did was inspire more of it- he now has more homers through 27 AAA games as he had in 57 AA games. By god, do we have something special on our hands. He put one out tonight.

EDIT: Further evidence of him perhaps surpassing WMB already:

Exhibit A: Quote by Cherington: “You know, I’ve always kind of felt like there’s no such thing as a prospect in Triple-A,’’ Cherington said. “Once you get to Triple-A, you’re either ready to help the big-league team or you’re not. And us, we’re finding out about the guys at Triple-A now, who’s ready and who isn’t.

Exhibit B: Last ten games:

Bogaerts - .333/.436/.515, 4/6 K/BB
WMB - .244/.279/.561 8/2 K/BB

Exhibit C: Bogaerts, age 20: .297/.393/.487, 70/49 K/BB, 370 POR/PAW PAs
WMB, age 20: .265/.349/.404, 123/48 K/BB, 427 GRE PAs

I'd be shocked not to see Xander or Radnaudo up with the big club in the next couple of months.

Cecchini too.

Its his to lose
he's already lost it, he has to win it back.

holt has 3 walks in 20 pa. middlebrooks has 9 in 216.

and before this turns into an argument about just walks, it's an argument about middlebrooks's ability to do things when he's not getting hits. if he were the player to beat for the mlb job at third, he should be laying waste to triple a right now.

i realize he's still young but he has to work out a way to be a productive player and get on base more. a 4% bb% isn't going to make you a starting anything on a team like this especially at an offensive position like third. now he's looked good in 85 pa in pawtucket and has his bb% up to 8%. that's good. i can live with strikeouts as long as you're doing other things to get on base.

Holy shat WMB has two walks in only ten games godly for him.

No but seriously I can't wait for Bogaerts to pull a Machado this year.

Who do we start sunday, Do we go with Dubront will he have the rest he needs, it is the last day so we could say give Dubront 5 and patch it together with the arms in the pen, send down one of the 3B for an extra arm for a day and reverse the move durring the AS break.

Nah, I'd give Webster another shot.

alfredo aceves and one of jacoby ellsbury's jerseys so the mets can get the right size.

I heard Daniel Nava today. Mets are too cheap to sign Ellsbury...would be great for them though in that big ballpark..

Man, Pedro Alvarez just KILLED it.... I love the Pirates...

i wouldn't trade for relief pitching again and certainly not nava.

i just figured the mets would want to be paying an outfielder millions of dollars for him to actually play for them.

I'd go Brentz/Barnes + one of:

Francellis "Frank" Montas: very raw, throws 100- surprisingly low number of walks this year, a lot of K's, and a lot of runs allowed. He's probably trying to flesh out his breaking stuff (not very good currently) down there though, which could explain the high ERA.

Keury de la Cruz: Solid OF prospect, cranks a bunch of doubles

Sean Coyle: 2B, I'm particularly high on him. He has a Pedroia-frame but has some really good pop in his bat. Can really steal some bags too. Very good at drawing walks. He's currently hurt though.

No way I give up any significant prospects for a 28 year old RP who has never pitched in the AL....or any RP for that matter unless it is a guy like Kimbrel. Also, Parnell has a BABIP of .245 right now, which means he has been pretty lucky so far and is probably going to even out over the course of a season.

Everyone is quick to trade Ellsbury but I think he is a key this year for this team. Win it this year if you have a chance. He's hitting .300 and leads in stolen bases. Bradley is only hitting about .155 and would be an automatic out right now. He and Middlebrooks have not shown they deserve to play everyday let alone stay on the club. It's one thing hitting minor league pitching and another against major league pitching.

I loved how he got pissed when Farrell rest him another day and he didn't want to sit. That's the attitude I want in a player and he's playing well right now. Hopefully he can stay healthy to remain in the lineup.

Addressing the bullpen and another starting pitcher is the priority but I'm not sure dealing Ellsbury away is a good thing right now for this team.

trade ellsbury or give him the qualifying offer after the season, take the picks and walk away.

someone's going to give him bj upton money and i don't think they'll be very happy they did.

Let's be real, he was only pissed because he is in a contract year.

That's beside the point. The only way I deal Ellsbury is if 2 top prospects/1 top prospect, 1 young impact arm are coming back.

OR maybe Ells will want to stay, and Farell works his magic to make it happen?

It could happen.

i know most here will watch the game tonight but since you all have computers as well, the mlb.tv free game of the day is the rockies v. the dodgers. kershaw's starting. a free clayton kershaw start is nothing to sneeze at, he's the best pitcher in baseball. plus, with every start, you can actually see him visualizing the record amount of money someone's going to give him this offseason.

Anyone hear Gary Disarcina on radio today talk about Boegarts to Mike Trout, He had Trout for ages 19 and 20 with Angels and cited similarities

sounds too much like the mlb network on draft night.

he does look good. but i hate comparing players who have not been in mlb yet to mlb superstars.
