Also on the toughness side, Hagel and Stortini are gone.

Are the Dogs going to be a better team next season?
Can they reach the PO?
We'll have to wait and see. The team is very different from last years team. We will have a new goalie to start the season, a different group of vets and most of our d will be a year older. Hopefully the coaches can have them believing and they can learn how to win!

Very solid even though we small

The important is to win?

No?

I trust Bergevin
I think it's important to win, so hopefully the Dogs can find some help on defense. I don't think that the Dogs roster as of now is very solid though, I would hope that the offense won't be dead last again but not sure that's a lineup that can win consistently.

Tarnasky i'd say is an upgrade on Stortini/Hagel. Fournier as a rookie, it's hard to say how it will go for him. As for the Dogs being a better team, St.Pierre replaces what they lost in Tenute which sadly was likely their top player, and if Leblanc bounces back that would help a lot, so hopefully the offense can pick it up. Not sure if that's a PO but then again we don't know if any more changes are going to be made as Tokarski still needs to be re-signed and I hope they add some vets on the blueline.

Where's Belzile in everybody's lineup? Isn't he worth another year for us?

He's not signed currently so no need to add him yet. I would bring him back but who knows what managements plans are.

I wonder about the coaches in Hamilton. I know good coaches at every level can make a team better...even teams that don't have the most talent.
My question is do we have the right coaches in Hamilton???

I think I'm the only believer in Duffy cracking the Dogs lineup. Berg is still gonna sign some minor league guys, so I think we'll be fine.. Hoping for a top 15 finish this year from Hamilton .

The coaching staff that is in place in Hamilton I understand, was put there to coach the exact same structure that is coached in Montreal, thus making it an easy transition for players coming up.

In the past, the Dogs coaches coached their game & style, which was often something totally different from the big club.

I believe this philosophy, instated by Bergervin is a huge step in the right direction for the development of the farm teams & prospects, something that the Habs have lacked in the past two decades, while many other organizations passed them by in development of their young players.

Speaking as somebody who does not follow the Bulldogs in great details, these are things I'd like to see:

- Leblanc getting 20+ minutes a night, including time on the top-6, PP, and PK.
- Holland, Thomas, Bournival, Nattinen, Ellis, showing us they might eventually be NHLers.
- Pateryn and Beaulieu putting in really dominant performances.
- A lot of fights.

I don't see Dumont in Hamilton this year but I could be wrong. He is a smaller but more highly skilled and probably tougher version of Maxime Lapierre. He even won a higher percentage of his faceoffs... albeit on a very small sample size.

Chicago won the Stanley Cup and had one major penalty in 23 games and 16 major penalties during the regular season. Toughness is one thing... fighting is another.

Nattinen is a center and one would have to think Quailer is still in the line-up.

That is a very good question. Time will tell I guess, but being the lowest scoring team in the entire league and ending up 30th out of 30 teams is something that needs a lot of improvement so we'll see how it goes next season.

At this point we don't know if or how many more players will be added to the roster. The Habs have space to sign at least a few more players if not several plus more AHL contract could be given out. Currently with only 12 healthy defensemen under contract to start the season, one would think perhaps a couple with be signed. So to say if Duffy will make the Dogs are not, I'd say at this point he should be there but we'll need to see what the roster looks like at camp in the fall.

As for right now, I would be shocked if they were anything close to a top 15 team though. Not sure having such a young defense is the way to go but there's still a lot of offseason left.

Nattinen has been a RW in Hamilton, never a center, never heard why they don't use him at center but I don't recall him ever playing center for the Dogs. Quailer might benefit from the ECHL as I felt he should have been there last year as he looked overmatched often.

Naatinen needs to learn the tried and true method of becoming a center, that being learn the job of playing winger. Quailer stood tall on many occasions when no other could, so don't sell him short on moxie, he's a team player all the way.

Any news on Leblanc? Just in case I missed any reports of him eating baby bruin cubs for breakfast and bench pressing minivans to prepare for next season.

All reports seemed to indicate that he was one of the better forwards at dev camp.

The Bulldogs should have the firepower necessary to win in an all out offensive game with that crew of forwards. With Nygren and Beaulieu on the defence moving the puck out of their zone shouldn't be a problem, more likely a strength.

They will definitely be entertaining this year and probably win some fights, so I think it's time to renew my AHL/Hamilton Bulldog TV ticket. Our GM has done his part now it's the players and fans turn to reciprocate, backing this farm team will be a pleasure, at least IMO.

Takes so much time signing another goalie....Do they really think of NOT signing Tokarski? They have most DEFINATELY a need for 1 or maybe even 2 vet d-men on the back end. I'll settle for one. I would bet you a whole lot that Thrower is staying put. We only have 5 d-men right now, so how about 2 vets? That coule even come up if needed.

It would do both Thrower & the Habs (& the Giants) a world of good for him to play as an overager & redeem himself as a presence on the blueline.
