The fact that you continue to insist that Torts was the difference maker is a bit of a stretch.

There is a rumour in Sweden that Markström has rejected the Panthers' 2-way offer and may play in the KHL next season.

No way torts had anything to do with goalie choice. Makes no sense. Canucks pathetic in how this was handled, perhaps breeched Schneiders rights.

Nucks problem.

A little worried about Markstrom, as many have expressed here, whether Santos bouncing him back and forth like a yoyo may preclude him from signing here. That would really piss me off.

nhl caliber swedes VERY rarely go to the KHL, especially not as young as he is and promised a NHL spot pretty much

he's saying he's going to go to the US for training camp unless something big comes up and that his agent is doing stuff

the newspaper quotes him but he refers to his agent instead

i think its words put in his own mouth, he haven't talked to florida apparently

I can understand not signing Fa due to salary issues, but to not get Markstrom locked up is...

No way DT offered a 2-way deal, just no way. He's declared Markie as the goalie of the present and the future already, there's literally zero chance he gets sent down to the AHL ever again.

Watch the new Tallon video on the Panthers site. He said Markstrom will be signed very shortly.

I'm gonna call this BS rumor.

First of all, why would he go to the KHL? Usually the swedes go back home to play in the SEL.

Second, I highly doubt Florida would offer him a two-way contract.

That's what I found interesting. If true, it would mean they really don't look to Markström as their goalie of the future.

I'd be curious to know what Markström told his training buddies this summer. Somehow I believe that's where this rumour comes from. I think it's likely he told them something like that he'd sign in the KHL if he didn't sign with NHL. Doesn't mean that KHL is his priority.

Yeah, I'm not buying it. Tallon said yesterday that they're going to get him "signed here very shortly" so I'll take his word for it.

Markström is one of the last swedes I'd see going to KHL. He'll have a long career in Florida.

Aftonbladet (Swedens biggest newspaper) is reporting the same thing, refering to GD (Gefle Dagblad). GD is Gävles local newspaper, Brynäs (Markströms former club) is located in Gävle.

According to Markström, he has had NO contact with the Florida Panthers and I quote -

If it's legit or not, I don't know. Aftonbladet usually posts a couple of ******** articles to get some clicks. But if it is true it's a disaster. Our coming star goalkeeper doesn't want to sign with us? Ugh.

If Florida looses Markstrom because they're so cheap and can't even offer him one-way deal, I'm done for good with this joke of organisation. This offseason is pretty terrible already, loosing Markstrom because of offering him two way deal would be the final nail in the coffin.

The only reason Swedish newspapers are reporting this is that Markström still isn't signed. The only reason anyone would think Markström is going to the KHL is because it's the go-to choice if you're not playing in the NHL these days.

And if he was offered a two-way contract, he's doing the right thing to not sign it.

Don't get dramatic folks, a qualifying offer is 2-way. He wants a better contract than his qualifying offer and the Panthers are going to sign him for better than his qualifying offer.

If he didn't get qualified he'd be a UFA.

Along with Markie being signed, I'd like to see Gaiduchenko signed as well and sent to the AHL...that would be 2 huge goalies under contract. Markie will be our obvious #1 goalie as he's given the reins of this team for the foreseeable future. It's time, he's been groomed enough, he's paid his dues, and so have we waiting for his arrival as the bonafide #1.

With Gaidechenko, looks to me low risk high reward type of thing. Guy has already had experience for several years now in the KHL, from what I've read from some of the fellow members here he looked great in camp, and our depth situation doesn't look to great in the G position that I know of. I mean who do we have in SA? Dov Grumet guy...?? I mean c'mon, Gaiduchenko was drafter in 07, he's 24, once again, IT'S TIME...bring him to the AHL where we need a goalie
