I think he lost both to Frankie (upkick didn't win the fight for him IMO in first), he beat Diaz, and I again had him losing to Gil although that fight was super close.

Anyways, I think this is the fight he finally loses decisively.

The thing that's weird is that I'm sure guys get concussions or knocked out all the time in sparring and training. I've never heard of someone missing a high-profile fight with one.

In this case we end up with a better fight, but what if Jon Jones did this in the weeks leading up to his fight? Or what if this was Henderson and now we don't have a title fight? I think people would be pretty pissed.

I know there's an increased awareness of concussions these days and something like this will probably happen more often going forward, but given the circumstances it just is so odd.

I don't think many fighters get knocked out while sparring prior to fights. And there is a mandatory 45 day suspension after concussions in the UFC. Although, I'm not sure if it's just for fights.

Well I just posted it in the general discussion thread because Dana announced it on SportsCenter on ESPN but here we go:

Weidman vs Silva rematch. December 28th. Vegas. MGM Grand.

Co main is Rousey-Tate.

I like that the Rousey/Tate fight is the co-main event. I don't mind the women's division but we've seen that fight before and it shouldn't be headlining the big end of year event. This PPV should do huge numbers for them.

Cormier/Nelson and Rockhold/Boetsch confirmed for UFC 166.

So the main card looks like this....

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos
Daniel Cormier vs. Roy Nelson
Hector Lombard vs. Nate Marquardt
Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez
Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch

That's a SICK card...until half of the fighters get injured.

hmm... these rematches bore me. I don't have much interest in JDS - Cain, Pettis-Benson, or Weidman-Silva right now. I think there are better matchups for all parties. Let these happen later.

Pettis-Benson has been long enough, but I have little interest in watching Henderson fight, at this point.

The HW division rushes rematches way too much. It doesn't have the talent to blow through all the big fights immediately.

To each their own, but I'm really excited for all of these fights.

I don't mind this rematch, just hope JDS doesn't become a punching bag again this time.

As much as I'm stoked to see the Silva-Wiedman rematch, I'd of much preferred Weidman get a defence against Vitort or someone and Silva get a tune-up fight first. Unless the fight is a ridiculously close split decision these automatic title rematches are dumb.

Agree but I get it for Silva. He made the money LOADS of money, huge winning streak, face of the company, best fighter ever, etc.

Also, I DO hope that JDS is a punching bag again.

I'd rather see Silva in Superfights. Well, not even superfights, I'd rather see him fight Diaz or Rashad than Weidman, right now. That division was so stale with him at the top for so long.

I want to see him get beat down again so he will just go away from the mw division. You know if he somehow wins, then the third fight will be on July 2014.

I want to see him get beat down so Weidman becomes a gigantic PPV buy and I can be all high and mighty about being a Weidman fan before he beat Munoz.

I was a big Weidman fan until after that fight. I think the hype got ahead of him, then he was injured for a bit... yadda yadda yadda, felt like it was too long. Then, I just get annoyed with the nut huggers.

I have similar feelings to Liquor, not that I want Silva to get beat down, but if he wins, we have to see them fight again. Silva has a limited amount of time left in the UFC, despite the contract, and I want to see him in entertaining, non-title fights. If he loses, no chane of a fight with GSP or especially Jones.

Right now, Silva-Jones would still sell. After another loss, it wont mean much.

Weidman wins again, Sonnen beats Belfort, Sonnen beats Weidman.

Viacom is expected to announce plans to go head-to-head with pay-per-view juggernaut Zuffa LLC and its UFC 168 offering at next week's Bellator 97 event on Spike TV.

An unveiling of Bellator fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's plans with the promotion will likely include a pay-per-view boxing match with former multi-division boxing champ Roy Jones Jr., multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

The fight is expected to take place at the end of the year, though a date and weight class for the bout could not immediately be confirmed. It's also unclear how the event will be branded given Bellator and parent company Viacom's focus on MMA.

This makes absolutely no sense but I want to see it.

I will watch the carny fight... probably not gonna fork over any money to do so though. ...internet being what it is and all that.

To yada's point above I think most regard Bellator as the definitive number two... I like to watch the OneFC because of its Pride like production and rules. I'm a sucker for nastalgia.

Belfort v. Kennedy. Terrible matchup. I guess they want Vitor to stay a contender.

The #2 ranked MW against an unranked Kennedy who was just involved in one of the worst fights I've ever seen? Most of the top MWs are already fighting but this still makes very little sense. Philippou wanted to fight Vitor but he said he's not fighting him in Brazil. That fight would have been a lot better than this one.

I guess one positive is that there's a good chance Kennedy gets knocked out cold. I wouldn't mind seeing that.
