It took Toews years to finally win one.
McClement has been this good for a while, he's just now getting Selke recognition since he's playing in Toronto.

He is a pretty good defensive forward, but I think Bergeron and Datsyuk are both better defensively and I would have given either one of them the Selke.

I disagree, the Trophy should be given out for what it was intended and if it was McClement still would not have won it.

Imo bergeron should have won the selke the past 5 years in a row. There's no defensive forward in his league imo, including mcclement.

But I do dislike how the award has changed and is not really reflective of defensive play so much anymore

Of the regular PKing forwards on the Leafs, McC was the second worst at preventing shots, so that's not very good. And if you want to talk about PK prowess, Jonathan Toews was on the ice for the same number of goals he gave up while playing the 3rd most PK on the Hawks top 5 PK.

If you look at the names he finished behind in Selke voting, I'd say he got more than enough recognition this year for his defensive play.

Leafs fan here saying no, and saying stop overrated our players so much. Kay tonks man!

Bergeron is literally the same thing as McClement except he's much much much better. So why would Mcclement win it over someone who's better than him that didn't win it >.<

McClement's just a solid defensive 3rd/4th liner. Good at his role, but nothing special.

Nope. I think Bergeron should have won it, but Toews isn't bad choice imo.

Bergeron played over 3mins more on ES, his face off% was the best in the league, I think, around 10% better than McClement's or close to it.

Bergeron allowed almost half as many goals on ES and had tremendous Corsi numbers. McClement started more in def. zone but not that much that there should be such a big difference in results.

McClement did play a lot more on pk but he also allowed more than one goal per 60 min more than Bergeron.

Jay is tremendous defensive forward but doesn't drive possession the same way, which I think should be valued highly when talking about best defensive´forward. It's not the only thing that matters, but it's important one. Jay helped a lot Toronto's pk, it seems. And allowed Kadri and co for easier assignments but I think he was voted in Selke voting around where he should be.
