Not really. Maybe with Smith off from AHL, but not othervise.

Injuries and callups in two directions NHL <--> AHL <--> ECHL will do it. AHL roster always goes to be the deepest one, because there's player traffic up and down. If you compare the situation NHL vs. AHL, NHL injuries could affect in AHL roster, but AHL injuries won't affect NHL roster, only in ECHL roster.

Now that he is hurt we will see what happens but there is no reason for Jensen to start in the ECHL. He is more NHL ready than most of the guys that will be in GR next year and is ahead of Ouelluet, Sproul and Marchenko. That said I want to see Jensen, Ouelluet, Sproul and Marchenko all in Grand Rapids next season.

the HF thing to do is judging someone by youtube and stats, sorry.

i have to admit that i haven't seen him as much as i would like to, but it's not just the WJC. i think i saw him 4 times in the Q this season as well. and i have to admit that i don't like the Q much and i find it very hard to project a Q player.

so of course i could be wrong on him. but i think he's 2-3 years away from the NHL pretty much like most GR newbies. Ds take longer and the wings will take their time.

I thought he looked really good for Canada at the WJC and I'm not the only one. Just because one fan said he didn't have a good tournament doesn't make it true. I find most fans have a grass is greener on the other side attitude and notice faults and mistakes (sometimes even making them up in their minds) while missing or disregarding the good

Xavier Ouellet:
Team Canada: 6 games 1g + 2a = 3 points
He was Canada’s most steady and solid defenceman. He brought a calm yet simple game and was effective on the 2nd unit of the powerplay. Xavier has great gap control and understands his limits and plays within his skill sets. He’s got great vision on the point but I question his ability to translate it that offense in the show.

just because you or someone else said he had a good tournament doesn't make it true either.

i didn't even say he had a bad tournament. i said he looked bad in his own zone, while i really loved his offensive skills. so i didn't only notice his mistakes, but also the good things he did.

i just gave an opinion on him. you are free to disagree.

I'm thinking that - when making lineups - you guys are forgetting to pencil in Nyquist on the top line. It recently came out that he has remaining waiver exemption, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Holland will take advantage of it rather than trade away some of his 4th liners.

They'll waive Emmerton or trade for some picks before Nyquist is on the top line. He's penciled in on the 3rd line in the big show, for now.

They used Classic Incantations by AR Rahman for the background score. Instant win.

I can't help but wear a big stupid grin the whole time I'm watching those vids. I watched a lot more of the griffs this year compared to years past and it's awesome to see all this behind the scenes stuff. Really hoping for some of these guys to pan out! Great job by the people who put these together as well. Enjoy the editing and the pace of the vids!

I have nightmares with the similiarities in blashill and babcocks voice. If he wasn't on the screen when talking I would bet you could do a blind folded hearing test and the overwhelming majority of people couldn't tell the differance in their voices.

wow, same. watching the griffins between the benches videos, blashy sounds exactly like babs to the point of it being scary. tone, mannerisms, lingo, everything

Hopefully Blashill continues his success in GR. He can already build a rapport with the prospects and if he ever takes over in the NHL, his transition will be much better.

I love the all-star SuperHeavy album Rahman collaborated on with Mick Jagger, Damien Marley, Dave Stewart and Joss Stone

Interesting... So apparently he didn't accept the Red Wings' qualifying offer but they still keep his rights and have him in the organization without using one of the 50 contracts. Or does it actually use one even though he's not signed?

I think it should be outside the NHL contract limit. Mccollum is AHLr now.

Now they can sign Cleary.

I hope they sign that Russian kid from developmental camp.

We don't need more forwards on one way deals

They really don't need more D-man at that level, that is the biggest logjam they have going right now.

Seems like everything is logjammed right now. Nice problem to have as an organization.

The only questions from a depth standpoint are back up goaltending at the AHL level and maybe adding toughness at all levels of pros and prospects.
