I definitely agree. Though I don't think they are related. Signing Z doesn't mean a thing as far as our NHL roster goes until we get some injuries.

I think Farnham has a better shot at making the roster. I still think we should see them together in pre-season.

I doubt either makes it. You want to know why? Because Glass and Adams will be on the ice, winning hockey games

Adams is better at hockey than Farnham and Harry Z.

True fact. I was just referring to his relative permanence on the 4th line no matter the situation. Bylsma wouldn't scratch him even if we had better options, like last year. Of course, this year, we don't have any solid replacements for him, so I suppose the point is moot.

On the other hand, I'd do almost anything to get Glass off the roster.

Cooke> Jokinen
Kennedy>D'Agostini

I know some people won't admit that but it's true. Yes Jokinen put up a lot of points in the dog days of the season but Cooke was more physical, better down low, & a better penalty killer.

Kennedy despite his chest sniping flaws was a NHL player. D'Ago struggled to stay a float last year.

I'm not saying "We aren't going to make the playoffs" I'm saying it's a downgrade & after being b1tch slapped by the bruins we should look to move a d-man & find a impact 3rd liner by playoff time. I think Shero will do that.

***** slapped by the Bruins!? Is that what we're calling it now? I agree that the bottom 6 is looking pretty flimsy right now, but to put the loss to the Bruins on a lack of size is a poor allocation of blame. Rask played lights out, the Bruins figured out how to take away the stretch pass and the Pens tried to play a rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star with the goalposts.

I think our bottom six is weak too and we should look to upgrade it, but here is another way to look at what you posted:

Jokinen/Bennett > Malkin's Revolving Door at LW

Jokinen/Bennett > Kennedy

D'Agostini < Cooke

Also, I'd take D'Agostini at 550K over Kennedy at 2M any day of the week.

The 3rd line is downgraded. The 2nd line is upgraded though. I definitely want to see us make an upgrade during the season/at the deadline, but I don't mind a bit of wait and see approach to see who should be replaced and what exactly we need the most.

I think he's talking in general, not just physically. We got swept. That's a playoff series' version of a ***** slapping.

I agree I wouldn't have Kennedy at that price but doesn't change the fact that he's a superior player to D'Agostini unless he can take a major step forward.

You just reminded me how awesome it would have been to have D'Agostini, D'Agostino, and Agostino in the same organization. I live for these kinds of things. Now I'm sad. Thanks.

well if the defence gets decimated by injuries then we could see D'Agostino and D'Agostini in the same game, Nick's probably around 10/11 on the depth chart right now .

2 goals in a 4 game sweep is a ***** slap.

You sound like Bylsma with this hot goalie crap. It's the ultimate cop out. Yes Rask played great but if you're going to win a cup you need to be able to beat hot goaltending.

Not taking anything away from Rask but our offense was painfully predictable & he say every puck. We made it very easy on him by not making adjustment & not putting anyone in front of him.

But that's for a different thread.

4th line = more Adams centering two scrubs, with Vitale getting scratched for 3 games every time he makes a mistake.

The crux is our bottom 6 pretty much sucked last year, too. No it's not the worst in the league, but it's definitely the worst among legitimate contenders and probably bottom 15 in the league overall. Chicago, LA, Boston, New York, and a few others all have deeper and more skilled bottom 6 than we have.
Pretty much my thought. Just accept that the team is as it is this coming year. Bylsma matters a lot more than whether they had slightly upgraded the bottom six. How many minutes are they even going to play.

The good news this offseason is that we control our core now for the better part of the next decade, basically the rest of their career. When the cap goes up the year after this season, then we can not only replace some players who will be moving on, but even more have the money to add to that core. But this coming year? I am fine with our team. The only question is coaching, but this team as is should be a cup favorite if they did not play with a Bylsma tied behind their backs.

I'm still upset that he's part of this team at all, but at least it's two-way.

I wonder if this signing of Harry Tibbetts means its the end of Tanner Glass' tenure with the Penguins.

I sincerely doubt it. But I can dream. Of course, a roster without Zolnierczyk or Glass would be most excellent, but that might be asking too much.
