If this is going to be a thing, then I'm linking final thread from last year since a bunch of people posted their own rankings in it.

Clicky.

In some other random thread a few weeks ago I think I did a top 5 or 10. For me this type of thing changes with my bowel movements so depending on if yesterday was curry day this could look quite different from that list. Anyways...

1 - Valeri Nichushkin, W
2 - Jamie Oleksiak, D
3 - Brett Ritchie, W
4 - Alex Chiasson, W
5 - Matej Stransky, W
6 - Jack Campbell, G
7 - Philippe Desrosiers, G

15 - Jyrki Jokipakka, D
16 - Ludvig Bystrom, D
17 - Emil Molin, C
18 - Cole Ully, W
19 - Henri Kiviaho, G
20 - Scott Glennie, W

*While we do have a pretty solid and deep prospect pool, I can't see a legitimate reason to go 25 deep on something like this LT. There's a strong top 7-8 and then it gets a lot more questionable with some players who are really young and unproven and others who are older and closer yet with a lower ceiling. I don't see any reason to shoehorn the Gemel Smith's and Remi Elie's into our lists. There should be a fight for the last few spots.

Wow, Desrosiers at 7 is gutsy but I like it and actually tend to agree.

Yea, 25 would be better IMO. So hard to leave out some of the players at the bottom.

I think Campbell is a good prospect but my feeling then was that good goalies can be drafted anywhere. Him being a high pick doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I put their odds at succeeding on roughly even footing.

I think you misunderstood me. I think 20 is as deep as it should go. There aren't 25 really good prospects; the guys ranking around 13-25'ish are arguable. Keeping it at 20 is both traditional and better for discussion because those last few guys need to have arguments made for them.

Yea, I'm loving what Desrosiers has said so far and his attitude towards the game. He, Campbell, and Kiviaho all look like great picks in terms of goaltenders.

Whoops, you're right, I misread that. There are good arguments for both 20 or 25 so we'll probably stick with 20.

That could easily change next year with a good season in juniors.

I'd agree, but narrow it a little bit to 15-25-ish that are arguable.

There's a top 7-9, then from there to 15-ish, from 16-25, and then finally 26+.

Yeah, I was being generous with the range there.

Also, while we're on the subject of the prospect pool at large. I didn't rank him all that high but I think Jokipakka will be a player. It also seems like he's hardly ever talked about and if he pans out a lot of people will wonder where he came from.

Who do people think has the higher upside between Chiasson and Ritchie. Most people have Chiasson higher, is that purely due to playing a few games at NHL level and doing well?

I can't speak for those people but I think Ritchie will ultimately be the higher scoring player and so I ranked him higher. I have Chiasson, Ritchie, and Stransky neck and neck with each other with Stransky just behind the other two.

I think Ritchie's ceiling is higher than Chiasson's. And I think Toaster could turn out to be another big piece of the franchise.

Eh, it seems like everyone here thinks Jokipakka will be a player. I do agree though, and sort of feel bad about not having him in the list, but he's in that ~15-25 mix IMO.

Probably roughly the same upside.
