Habs in 4th after 10 games

The Habs are in 4th place with a game or two in hand on most teams yet by the majority of the posts on this board one would think we're one of the bottom feeders.

Look at the teams we're ahead of:

Montreal 13 pts
-------------------

Carolina 12 pts (2 gms in hand)
Ottawa 10 pts
NYRangers 10 pts
Philadelphia 5 pts (last in the conference)

We have points in 8 of 10 games, we are arguing over what players shouldn't be on our 4th line! How many teams would love to have that problem, ALL OF THEM.

How bout a hand for our boys who after 10 games are only behind Buffalo & Atlanta.

Good point... far too many people on these boards think that our team should be better even when we win...it is a long season guys, and I think the Habs have a really good core, but let's face it, there are nights we will outplay a team and lose, there are nights we will play poorly and win, and like last night we got outplayed, outshot, and still found a way to tie the game late, and steal a point...82 games does a season make, not 10, and right now we are 5-2-3 with 13 pts in the bank, and have a couple of good games, and a couple of stinkers...hopefully they stay in the middle of the pack for most of the season, and come together in March and firmly grab a higher seeding for the playoffs than we have seen the last few years...at least that's the plan, and no they will not win every game...

Habs

Well, the Habs started 13-3 last year and finished 8th and almost missed the playoffs. Getting points is great but winning games is better. The Habs are 5-2-3 this year but the game against the laughs was just that, a Laugh on Montreals part. They only played about 10 minutes in that game. I think they were looking past this game and on to the Ottawa game Tuesday night.

Well, with 13 pts, habs would be 8th in the Western Conference.

I came away happy last night. I remember giving up on the team when they were down a couple goals late in years past. But not last night, and they came through. That was awesome, and not the first time they've shown great character late in games this season.

These guys may not give 110% for 60 minutes of every one of the 82 games in the season, but who does? An excellent start to the season. Good job, Habs!

You make a really good point. They have a ways to go before joining the top 5 teams in the league, imo. They are steadily making progress though. I don't give them a pass and I start every year hoping they win their last game. In the meantime, when I watch the games, I want to be entertained and see some of the stuff that makes being a sports fan fun. I see the Als win the afternoon, then get a little bit annoyed when the CH played an abysmal game then screamed like a 10 year old when Souray scored. I dunno, I had fun.

What I wanted to say is that 4th position on October 29th means absolutely nothing. Wait until game 21 before pulling out the first measuring stick.

I always break the season down into quarters. Every 20 games is a good measuring stick to see a team's progress, not 10.

This after you convince me late last season that there are no stable top 5 teams in the league anymore.

Pittsburgh has a game in hand. Had they played it, they would most likely be in 4th.
