What do you guys think about Gillies? Do you think he can be a starter in the NHL?
He looked really good at development camp.

I think that Gillies is not only our best goalie prospect, but he is very near the top of the list for all our prospects. His numbers this year as a rookie in college were outstanding, and he will be #1 at the WJC for the USA this year. I think he will one day be our starter....

Yeah Gillies is gonna shine at the WJC.

Last year at the WJC, Calgary's prospect rankings grew when everyone saw Gaudreau, Wotherspoon, and Granlund play. This year it's gonna be Gillies that takes Calgary's prospect rankings up. Fans all across the league will realize that Calgary has a great goaltending prospect.

I thought Klimchuck was going to be a 7.5C.

Hopefully they update Wotherspoon, Knight and Sieloff's ratings. Little low.

Edit: and Gillies / Brossoit

Check out 1:25 of the Emile Poirier video. He says that he wants to play like Rick Nash. He's 6'0 168 now, if he gains a ton of muscle over the next 5 years do you think this guy will be a player? I could definitely see it, he's fast enough that even if he isn't Joe Thornton sized he will still be able to throw down some big hits. Does this change your opinion of the player?

actually, according to the measurements from the Draft Combine, he is 6'1.5" which is very encouraging when combined with his skating. It also goes well with your points.

Gillies and Sieloff were invited to the WJC camp again but no mention of Gaudreau.

USA's u20 coach said Sieloff is one of the most improved players from last year. Good to hear! Really excited for the day he wears the flaming c. Opponents will hate to play against him and I love it

I don't know, my gut says no. At most an A. He plays with a certain type of edge that might not be what you want representing your franchise. It would be like making Dion Phaneuf captain. Oh, wait...

What exactly does Phaneuf and his piss poor attitude have to do with Sieloff? The only comparable between the 2 is they hit hard, nothing else.

Just a gut feeling, really. He is super-intense on the ice, and he channels that into getting into everyone's face, mucking things up (at times needlessly, just because he can) after the whistle. Seems like he puts a fair amount of effort into just making the other team mad. At least, that was my impression from the dev. camp, but that could just be a product of trying to catch the coaches' collective eye.

Monahan the only goal in the first 30-minute period of Canada's development camp scrimmage; Lazar stopped by Fucale on a penalty shot

Only ones scoring on their team, doesn't mean a whole lot considering its one practice scrimmage, but promising to start camp.

Love it!

Wonder how Janko did? Does anyone know? Great seeing him on the first line with MacKinnon, though.

Hopefully our prospects continue to light it up in game action!

Go Go!

I don't know about you but I would love Phaneuf back. Loved him as a player and he is exactly what we could use on our disastrous defence.
