Red Wings forward logjam <> Kings defenceman logjam

Could there be some kind of fit for those minor guys ?

Patrick Eaves for Jeff Schultz or something ?

The Wings don't exactly have much space for a defenseman either. They plainly and simply need to unload a couple of forwards for picks.

Kings just signed Schultz, few weeks ago or something. Not gonna trade him yet.

Nobody is going to give any picks, when there's also a free agent market open.

8th defenceman would be fine for training camp. I'm not sold on Lashoff as a 7th. That would create some competition and someone could get injured.

Roll with 8 defensemen and 13 forwards all season? Hmm no thanks. We are set on defense. We were 5th in GA and everyone should be improved in their role. We just need to get rid of two forwards.

If the wings really dont need any more average dmen seems like they have quite a few as is. They could upgrade though

The kings need a lw more then a rw. Do you have any available perferable if they can play 2nd lw spot and cheap.

Wings have a logjam in terms of skaters. Swapping a F for a D does nothing for us.

We need to dump 2-for-1 or 1-for-pick/s. We don't need prospect D either, cause the pipeline is kinda crammed with them too.

I mean, if you wanted to give us Voynov for multiple forward pieces, that would be cool, but a one-for-one swap for a depth defenseman is no good.

Nope. Make a trade that does give a better roster balance for training camp. What if 2 defencemen gets injured there?

If everybody are healthy, then get rid of one defenceman and one forward. Having extra d-man is just better preparation for the season and for possible injuries. You have better flexibility.

So that's maybe not a good fit for a trade, because Wings have too much RWs.

LW plan for coming season:
Zetterberg
Franzen
Tatar
Miller
(Bertuzzi, could play either side)
(Nyquist, could play either side, RW when playing with Tatar at same line)

I think we can solve logjams on both sides easily...

Patrick Eaves
Cory Emmerton
Mikael Samuelsson
Jordin Tootoo

Drew Doughty
Slava Voynov

...

But seriously, Detroit really doesn't have the room to add defenders either.

We'd prefer stay-at-home D.

Gunnarson? not a brut but reliable dman that plays a safe game

Abdelkader and Helm? Leafs could add a prospect or pick

I'd like for the Red Wings to somehow land Clifford but with the logjam at forwards, we really don't have room for any forwards right now.

We can offer the Kings the following though:

Eaves + 7th for a 5th

Samuelsson + 7th for a 7th (this one will put you guys over cap though and Sammy has a NTC)

Emmerton for a 7th

I'm sure they'd find room for those 2

Tomas Tatar. He'd slot in that role perfect. I personally don't want to trade him, but maybe to org views him as expendable.

Won't come all that cheap though.

They signed him as insurance in case they couldn't get Martinez and Muzzin in under the cap. Lombardi has since signed both of them and now has 9 NHL defensemen signed. Schultz will be on waivers before the season starts.

Really dude... That post was CLEARLY a joke. LA would have to add Kopitar and retain half of his and Doughty's deals if they want those players.

Same thing is happening for Eaves, so that's why I was suggesting these kind of minor trade ideas. Kings could get a cheap PK forward that is unneeded at Detroit.
