I'd be okay with Hejduk but it'd have to be for such a small amount of money that we could sit his ass and go get an upgrade if need be. Like cheaper than Steve Sullivan.

Well, Vrbata clearly has more knowledge than we do. I'd be okay with him coming. Maybe they could get some pretty sweet chemistry going.

More knowledge but also more nostalgia.

Turned out to be Bono of U2 & some Roadie Dude, car had broken down. Long story short, Bono sent Gilbert 4 tickets to a concert the following night in Edmonton, which Brule & his girlfriend etc attended.... yes, they even report stuff like that about a one time Vancouver Giant who grew up in this city and in Edmonton. Cliff Ronning another Favourite son, his parents owning an antique shop in town, and now it appears another generation to follow. Cliff as you'll recall a tremendous little player in his prime.
I bumped into Brule at Jobing once. Real nice kid. He was really friendly and we chatted for a bit. He's pretty skilled for a bottom 6 guy, so I'd definitely be happy if we gave him a 2-way.

Then I must be number two in that regard. Hated to see him leave.

I'm aboard the Brule train. I don't think we'll find a Coyotes fan on here that won't be.

As far as Hedjuk, if Vrbata is lobbying this hard to get him, then I hope we do. If Vrbata trusts that he and Hedjuk will create a spark then maybe that's what we need. A confident, driven, happy Vrbata would dp wonders with this team, and Hedjuk not exactly chopped liver. He's up there in age, but he still has a **** load of talent. He won't be the 50 goal scorer he used to be, but if we can get a 2nd line built off of pure chemistry, I like the idea.

Sullivan signed for what, 1.8M? It'd be great if Vrbata can convice Hejduk to sign for 1.0-1.5M if there are no other takers. If we can get him for close to 1M that leaves 2.6M for Boedker, which could be enough if his new deal is backloaded to get to the 3M AAV I'm expecting he wants. Would allow Maloney to hold off trading Klesla or another one of our blueliners until up to the deadline.

Count me as interested in bringing Brule back for a bottom six role. He'd be a great depth signing and give Brown a little more seasoning, which I think he needs.

Anybody know why Brule wasn't brought back? For some reason, I remember thinking he jumped ship to get a European contract before everybody else did the same because of the dispute.

I don't know if Hejduk has anything left in the tank...he was pretty useless last season for the Avs. I'm on board the cheap Brule train.

I'd still prefer Maloney to trade Klesla/Rundblad for a bonafide 2nd liner or combination like was already suggested Malone & Connolly.

If Hejduk was nursing an injury all season last year I could see the drop off and then I guess I would be ok w/picking him up as long as he's cheap. But his last 3 seasons has seen his ppg average dropping from .788 to .457 to .379

Well, history says we must ice at least one old fart past his prime every season. Hejduk might be our man?

Vrbata has a crush on Hejduk, and I'm sure Hanzal would be stoked to play with such a player. Milan would probably be equally excited. It could work. The only problem is that would neuter the only shutdown line Tippett has. Could be an interesting gambit.

I'd tell Vrbata he can have his shiny toy if he signs an extension for something less than $4m.

The Coyotes let him go because he wasn't tall enough (that's the way I remember it).

As for going to Europe so quickly, it probably doesn't take more than a couple of days to make 29 phone calls.

Good point. We sign Hejduk the day AFTER Vrbata signs an extension. Haha.

I wonder if we're tied to Jagr's cryptic message. If we're going old Czech, I'd rather him than Hejduk.

Somebody in the local media (Vest or McClellan or somebody) asked Don about Jagr specifically the other week ago. He pretty much directly dismissed the idea outright.

With all the talk of Brule, an article on him trying to come back, dealing with off ice personal issues etc.:

Capgeek has Korpi's contract details, and it looks like vintage Maloney.

Year 1: 2M
Year 2: 2.3M
Year 3: 2.7M
Year 4: $3M

AAV $2.5M

Wow. Snow overpaid for Bailey - and I like Bailey a lot. But they kind of dicked him in the last negotiation. It seemed like they told him if he signed cheap, his next deal would be a payday.

He's never scored more than 16 goals and never topped more than 35 points. Granted, during this half-season, they made the playoffs and he was on pace for 22 goals and 38 points. But his biggest problem in his 5 seasons has been consistency.

Much like Boedker, he's got a lot of potential, but hasn't proven much yet. It's one thing to be able to play in the NHL at a young age. It's another thing to be able to compete as scoring line forwards.

These guys want to get paid like scoring line players. But they haven't produced as such - at least not yet. I'm not convinced on the "buy low" mentality. At least not for our club.

Return of the Czech Line?? (Milan Hejduk)

Looks like Vrby's lobbying for an old mentor.
