If you have trust issues because of Alfie, you should probably re-evaluate your life.
Thank you.

Is that why the moment the season is over Giroux comes here and leaves the last day he can?

Is that why he threw a 'fake wedding' for his best friend and all his friends in Ottawa (the guest list was 150 and cabbie was the MC) before he left for philly? If ya don't know what youre talking about then its better not to comment.

If Ryan loves it here then he will stay if he doesn't he will leave. Playing with Spezza and EK will help that one.... One broad will not determine this unless she gets pregnant. Lets hope he stays safe....

Ottawa: A great place for a fake wedding.

Do you know what you're talking about?

Ryan grew up in a suburb of Philly in N.J. It's his hometown.

Giroux grew up in Ottawa. Doesn't mean he plays for us, does it?

For those who can't access the interview, here's a transcript of The Team 1200.

Just like Tavares and Stamkos all waiting to go to UFA to re-sign in Toronto right? Like Vinny Lecavalier and Cindy Crosby fulfilling their lifelong dream of playing for the Habs, right? Like Shea Weber wanting to go back to BC, right?

Vancouver media is always full of this stuff, believing that every BC-born player can't wait to play for the Canucks. The reality is that Paul Kariya passed on about three different opportunities to play for the Canucks, as did Joe Sakic. If the Alfie episode taught us anything, it is that the decisions players make are based on a wide variety of factors, leading off with money. "Hometown" often doesn't have much to do with it.

Claude Giroux, for one, has quite successfully separated his love for his home town with his place of employment. In fact, his life is probably significantly LESS complicated because of that separation. That fact may not be lost on Bobby Ryan.

I mentioned this is another thread before, difference is I was serious. If he gets locked up long term he would be a perfect captain.

I know that Giroux likes Ottawa, so I doubt he slanders the city. That's what I was talking about, did you red the thread?

The home-town angle stresses me less than the gf factor. Gretzky, Pronger etc....

They were married though

A considerable difference

Not that I'm wishing he dump his GF, it's just that I feel those comparisons are unwarranted

Not to mention there are far more examples of wives being perfectly fine with getting traded than being upset.

Except that he said he now lives in Wyoming. He wasn't even living in Anaheim during the offseason while playing for the Ducks. I think we just need to worry that the Coyotes/Devils or other team doesn't relocate to Cheyenne, the largest city in Wyoming with a population of just over 60,000.

Players don't always live where they play. Some may actually prefer to spend the offseason elsewhere. How many current Sens spend 12 months in Ottawa? I'm sure at least a few of them head back to somewhere after the season. Some don't and that's cool too.

Gretzky's wife had nothing to do with the trade.

Pronger on the other hand...

If the Sens are contenders and if the team can afford to re-sign him will be the biggest factors. Him liking the city would be secondary but it doesn't sound like he would hate it here.

No player is bigger than the team. You do what's best for the team, and if Ryan is the best leader then you can't ignore that.

Too early to tell though.

That is such a union mentality. Base promotions solely on time served with No regard for the quality of the individual or fit to the position.
