It's nice to see Fluto mention the play of Lashoff. So far he's played a very confident and steady game without making any glaring mistakes. This is really more than we could have hoped for in a 20 yr old defenseman called up early in the season in an emergency situation.

Hopefully, he will still be in the lineup Thursday night while one of the two stiffs (Dempsey/York) sit out.

I'm going to be violently ill if he's sent back to Providence when Alberts comes back.

I'd be interested to see Kessel play center, but with this team who seems to be log jammed at center with Bergeron, Boyes, Kessel, Prems, and Savard, I'm not sure how effective that'd be. But it would be intersting to see for a game or two.

They should put Kessel on center for the second unit of the power play:

1st unit: Bergeron Savard Murray
Jurcina Chara

2nd unit: Sturm Kessel Boyes
Stuart Mara

I like Matt Lashoff a lot, was impressed with his play Saturday night.
Of course it certainly helped that he was paired with Mr Chara, but give the kid credit, he had the sense to take advantage of that fact. Kept his game simple, made nice passes, and no stupid penalties. When Alberts comes back, send Dumpster or the York in the Box to Providence, and keep Lashoff up!

That is part of the value of having someone like Chara. If Lashoff can play solid with him all year it will be a huge boon for us. Pair up Stuart and Alberts and then Mara and Jurcina/M.Stuart OR have two very good pairs by matching up Mara and Stuart and then a Alberts/Jurcina combo that can play 12-14 minutes a night.

It also gives us added flexibility during the year to make a deal if we cannot sign Brad Stuart to an extension.

I think that is one big problem young D-men have when called up. They try to do too much to impress, go for the big hit to impress that takes them out of the placy, and they take stupid penalties because they are trying too much.

I like the idea of Kessel at center

I think Kessel centering the thrid line would be great. I love his game and think he will do a great job. I think they need different personnel to make that third line a scoring threat. A trade for a 3rd line winger with some scoring touch is definately needed, preferably a young guy. I know they are both rookies but, what are your thoughts on Statsny playing with Kessel on the thrid line?

I like what I read in Fluto's article. Giving Kessel a shot at center might help ignite the offense. I also think it's a no-brainer to keep Lashoff up here and send Dempsey down to the AHL to take his spot there. I would still like to see Kalus or Krejci called up while Sturm is out. Their pure offensive skill might help the offense.

Krejci/Kalus-Bergeron-Murray
Primeau-Savard-Boyes
Axelsson-Kessel-Donovan
Hoggan-Mowers-Stastny

Lashoff-Chara
Mara-Jurcina
Alberts-York

you wonder if they have the wingers available to send out 3 scoring lines. I say no.

Lashoff looks very good so far.

As for the lack of points, this can partially be attributed to the fact that they'replaying less games than the rest of the league.

I've been critical of some of her writing but this was a good article by KG. My favorite part being this.

The Bruins aren’t going to score many goals. That’s not how they’re going to win games. From the outset, they seemed content on trying to win the low-scoring battles. The trouble was, that wasn’t happening, given the less-than-stellar goaltending and unexpected woes defensively.

That's exactly what I've been saying, this team scoring 4 goals will be a rarity but that does not in any way mean they can't win hockey games. When the D gets healthy and with the goaltending seemingly having no where to go but up this team will be able to out "ugly" the other teams they play and win the low scoring matches.

The lack of games for the season would contribute to the lower season totals, the thing is though that this team has not scored more than 3 goals in any game this season, win or loss.

I think that this situation is inevitable....dont you? there is no way they can resign Stuart for 4+ mil that he will want. i love the guy as a player, but i think this is an avenue that needs to be seriously looked at to get some added help at forward....
