The Habs need only make an offer sheet to the player whose team has Salary Cap issues, other teams like NYR's and Edmonton have done this successfully. Why not the Habs finally using the doors that are left open to them?
Gretzky was traded only because the owner was a greedy *****.

As for offer sheet, can't see the teams not matching any offer, except one that will cripple us with Gomez v2.0 . For example, unless you offer more than 7-8 millions to Pietrangelo on a 7-year deal, I don't see the Blues not matching, they'll make the space. Even a budget strapped Nashville team defended themselves vs the Flyers offer sheet.

On subject, this year is the year we see what Fucale is made of, with the departure of Fournier and probably Mackinnon/Drouin and others.

It was my only concern was whether or not he could stay 'entertained' during the whole game, not worrying too much about reading the potential play and making sure the puck was taken care of first.

This season, he changed a lot of that around, he had to sit for long period of times in the play-offs without feeling the puck then face a break-away. He still let in some softies but when the game was on the line, Fucale was ready with a big save to preserve the tie, the lead, or a one goal deficit. Since the Chicoutimi series, I haven't seen Fucale lose a game for his team but I've seen him turn the tide.

The reports about him being able to win are true, he battles, he finds a way to win even on bad nights. However, his demeanor and style of play is very Price-like, I didn't want him in the 1st round because he would be scrutinized the same way Price is. Be prepared for that.
Price is scrutinized because he was a 1st rounder....but not only that. He's a top 5 pick. Not only, he won almost everywhere else he's played in. And when his team didn't win, like Tri-City, he won some recognitions. And then not only that (this part is not for you LG...), but he was brought in as THE saviour. Most likely, Fucale won't have the resume that Price had when he started his career. Most likely, we will be patient with him. Pressure you have to add on him is the local pressure. But everything else goes for him....Having said that....I like the pick at round 2....but I still want a goalie next year. 1 very good goalie in the prospect pool is better than not at all....but it's enough. Not in this freak city of goalies....

Also who will center for Drouin.
For now, this team has one center: Stamkos.
Anyone expecting Thompson, Pyatt or Johnson to be the center for St-Louis?

TBL will have one line: Filpulla - Stamkos - St-Louis.
Then there will be a second line with Drouin - X - Purcell.
X could be Johnson.

Loosing Lecavalier will be very hard to replace.

Sounds very Price like, just opposite from their CHL days.

What about Vaclav Namestnikov, Cedrick Paquette, and Philip Michael Devos. Richard Panik, Brett Connolly, Danick Gauthier, Phillipe Paradis, JT Brown and Ondrej Palat to name a few wingers and a couple hotshot Russians. Tampa Bay will ice a pretty talented team this year.

Filpulla can play centre IIRC

Gretzky was getting married to Actress Janet Jones working in LA, I don't think she wanted to be living in Edmonton, but the owner Pocklington made out like a bandit on the trade.
How would making an offer sheet to a player on a Salary Cap strapped team (like Minnesota did with Suter and Parise) be Gomez 2.0? But back on subject.....

Filpulla IS a centermen. That 2nd line C spot is all his. Tampa still looks like crap even with Drouin in the line-up.

Yeah, unless some of their youth can have a breakout season (Johnson? Namestnikov? Connolly?), I can't see them improving too much.

I can't remember the last time a Hab GM has been this active in all phases of signings. Bergevin seems to leave nothing to chance and the Habs barring injuries will improve again this off season, as well as the Bulldogs. With all of the moves made in Hamilton, I'd be amazed if there isn't huge improvement there. Having a good farm team is imperative to building a Stanley Cup contender, I expect to see marked improvement with Lebeau joining the team's offence. No worrying about players being left to fend for themselves, they will be prepared for every game this season. Bravo Mr. Bergevin and a great draft once again, onward and upward. I wonder what Dallas would be asking for Brett Ritchie, just thinking the Habs might be able to draft his brother Nick at the 2014 draft. It would be good to have a brother combo playing for the Habs once again and those two are really talented with size.A line with Brett at RW and Nick at LW surrounding Galchenyuk could be amazing, or with Eller. Nicushkin signing with Dallas has pushed Brett down the RW charts and could be available.

After reading some of the comments from the development camp it sounded like Erik Nystrom had a very good showing. Any news on if he has improved his size? What aspects of his game he still needs to work on? Where is he playing next season? Is he turning into a good prospect or is he still an outside shot of developing into an NHL player?

Tarnasky
He scored 26 points.
That's better than Stortini and Hagel who earned 6 points each.

QMJHL- Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Gatineau Olympiques and Halifax Mooseheads

OHL- Erie Otters, Windsor Spitfires, London Knights (Memorial Cup host)

WHL- Kamloops Blazers
Baie-Comeau and Gatineau should be good. Chicoutimi will be in the lower tier, and Halifax a middle of the pack team.

Halifax will be higher than middle of the pack.

They got two very skilled Euros, when they acclimatize to the league, they will have enough fire power to be competitive.

They won't be a dominant team but they'll be good.

HP I was joking when I said his bro went to Minn. Gophers, just the bearhug and Mark saying I miss you bro. Hope that clears it up a bit. My sense of humor I guess when I quoted your quote of Analyzer's photo it didn't show up. Mitch is still with N.Dak. as far as I know.
