Lesser Known Prospects with First Line Potential?

Prospects not known as blue-chippers that can put up 60-70-80 pts?

This can be players drafted in the late first, second rounders, seventh rounders all the way to undrafted college players.

On the Avs:

Sgarbossa and Hishon, both have high upsides, will they get there is the question. Both are probably capable of being a 1st line winger at some point, not saying it will happen but they both are capable. Neither of them are considered blue chippers.

If Rajala keeps developing I think he could put up 60 points as a 1st or 2nd line LW. Of course he would have to be moved from the Oilers if he wants top 6 duties.

We've had a couple Swiss posters tell us that Fabrice Herzog has potential to be a 1st line guy.

I agree with you here. He's definitely got 1st line potential. He's one of my favorite prospects and it's a bonus that he got drafted by my home city even though I kinda wish Dallas would draft him

Most Habs fans seem to be underrating Lehkonen, 14G 16A 0.66 PPG in SM-liiga as a 17 year old is very impressive

I was going to mention him as well. He will be under rated because of his size but he has amazing skill.

It is a long-shot, but for the Wings I would say that guy is Marek Tvrdon. Has missed significant time to injury in his junior career, basically playing one season where he was the leading rookie scorer in the WHL. But he is a pretty massive kid at 6'2" 220 lbs, with very good hands and a nice skating motion. Could turn out to be a real steal, we will see, but he is down the list and I doubt he is really well known. Really hoping he pans out, been a fan since the draft and rock him in my avatar.

He's not that small, 5'10 3/4, pretty much the same height as Collberg.

I don't think he has first line potential, though.

He has crazy vision and good hands. He's a small player, though, and he doesn't have the speed to make up for him being so small. He was quicker last year, but still isn't too quick. He's below average defensively.

I still have some hope for Tom Kuhnhackl for the Pens. And I think Anton Zlobin can be a good complement for skilled players, if not a natural/true first-line sniper himself.

It's barren otherwise.

Recent Sabres pick Connor Hurley (38th ovr). Has got all the tools to be a first line scorer: speed, hands, shot, vision, but he is very young and raw still (not 18 until september). I've been hearing that if he were an earlier birthday he would have been a 1st rounder

Collberg, Andrighetto, and Lehkonen have already been mentioned, and I agree, but nobody has yet mentioned Christian Thomas. His shot is insane and he's got a lightning quick release. He's a real boom/bust prospect. Listed at 5'9" 170, he's got a lot of filling out to do, but if he pans out, he can be a real gem.
I watched him play with Oshawa and really liked his game, leading the Gens in scoring as a 17, 18, and 19 year old is pretty impressive.

Not to boost our own prospects here.. but I also think that Bozon is under rated and could become a good 60 point producer.

We'lll see if Jaskin can improve his skating and let's see if Rattie can translate his game to the NHL.

Him and Hartikainnen(sp) stuck out to me this year in OKC. I don't see him in first line. But I could see solid third liner and possible 2W duties.

From the oilers: Arcobello. Probably not many people have heard of him. He's a smaller skilled center who was top 5 in the AHL scoring. Probably starts the year centering yakupov and hall if rnh is still out. Tough gig.

But I think he has shown good potential

Is he a prospect still though? Thought he was 25-26 yrs old.
