I'll add I love that we are keeping Clune long term and he adds solid depth to our forward group.
Good news. I don't have claim anyone ready, I don't have any say so. However, those in charge has said Ekholm was ready, so I'll go by what they've said. Besides, he looked good when he did play.

Just to note, Clune was already signed for this year. He's now ours for the next three.

I don't mind the signing - Clune did ok I think last season. Looking at the forwards as they are it is going to be an interesting camp on who makes the team and who gets sent to the AHL/traded/etc.

That's good though, he was probably questioning his roster spot with recent signings, this should show him the team is committed to him.

minimum two... GMs like three or four... prospects, not suspects

anyone who doesn't think this team needs another D for depth is sorely mistaken. It may not be the #1 priority, but it's absolutely in the thoughts of management.

He wasn't. He knew the team was committed to him. A big factor was having him fly in from Ontario last week to address the prospects. They really see him in a leadership position.

For what its worth I think this is great. The one player who does not take a shift off.

And for the D depth comments this team will need quality depth. What If Just what if Jones is a pylon version of Blum???????? And as much as I like Eckholm he could still be a disappointment too. Mark my words by Christmas there will be a group here calling for blood either Jones, Ekholm or FF and of course Trotz and Poile if either of these three struggle just one little bit.

I agree but with 7 guys you project in the NHL next year any signings going forward will be two way deals with guys who can hack it in the NHL in an emergency but if all goes well they will play in Milwaukee.

If Poile signs any D-man on a one way deal (like Hainesy, for instance) then thats bad news for either Ellis or Ekholm

And I don't disagree with you, but to hand Ekholm an NHL job after a mere cup of coffee in the NHL is shortsighted. An 82 game schedule will generally wear the new fringe 5/6 guys out unless they know what's coming. I don't know that he's ready. Seems more like a 7 to me.

I'm kinda sad they jettisoned Gill. I think he'd have been a great 6/7 swing guy. His PK was powerful.

One thing you know about Clune is the guy gives effort 100% of the time. He's not the most skillful guy in the world but I think he's a great teammate and locker room guy.

Clune on Twitter is great. Extremely funny, jokes around with the other teammates, makes fun of Dallas and Fiddler a lot, and occasionally posts stuff about how he overcame his demons, charity stuff, and helping others. I agree the organization needs to get him out with the public more. Great guy.

I love Rich Clune!! He's easily one of, if not the, hardest worker on the team, "100% no lie"! He works his ass off on every shift, in every game, no matter what the score or situation.
