Booo. I swear it is going to be another month before the schedule is released. This is infuriating too be honest.

This is what it was like during the lockout. Waiting for news.

I don't see how it can take them that long to get the Olympic stuff done though?

So they won't release the schedule until they have the Olympic news...so has anyone heard any update on that? Seriously! Are they even working on the Olympic stuff? You know they're going and you know they have the schedules done...Come on! I've got trips to plan!

I heard that all the teams even have the schedules, but they are not allowed to release them until the Olympic deal is finalized and announced. Seriously, what is wrong with releasing the schedules now?

On the Panthers leaked schedule, there's an Olympic break. Take it for what it's worth.

Pretty sure we were already all but certain they'd be playing in the Olympics.

So, do any of you who are complaining about the schedule not being released yet actually have a good reason for wanting to see it now? Or are you just whining that you're not getting what you want?

Why does it matter so much to you whether people want to see the schedule?

I just think it's kind of funny at this point that everyone has said the deal is in place and they are just finalizing the contract, but can't release schedules until its fully official.. I mean, they friggan announced the end of the lockout over a verbal agreement between the 2 sides.. It's a done deal, just announce it and finish your paperwork after

To be fair to them, they didn't release the schedule after the lockout ended either until the MOU was in place.

What the NHL does not seem to have full grasp of is the fact that they are in competition with the MLB, NFL and NBA; and seeing as how the more competently run leagues are catering more to the fans, it's not a stretch to believe that the NHL loses revenue to the other leagues when they do silly things like this to their fans.

Concerning the panthers leaked schedule it should be noted, they do seem to be playing their new division rivals 5 times so I would say it seems legit.

if you must know, yes.

i live in Australia, I have money sitting in my bank account for flights for a 4 week holiday, and obviously with how toxic flight prices and availability can be, all I am waiting on is the schedule so i can book a holiday seeing the most of hockey and my team.

this is my third trip to the USA in 3 years and my holidays revolve around NHL/NFL/MLB, depending on what time of year i go. I flew over in October because i organised a holiday before the lockout happened, and still had to go. I organised it to see NHL/NFL/MLB all in one trip. Unfortuntately the lockout made me miss out on hockey, so I am damn impatient in getting back to the USA and seeing live hockey once again.

Maybe releasing the schedules now wouldn't help the NHL in its negotiations with the organizers of the Sochi olympics? Maybe they still have some bones to pick with the Russians and are telling them that "unless these things get fixed, we're not coming". Releasing a full schedule with an olympic break in it wouldn't help in getting the Russians to meet these demands.

It's Russia. Procedures are a bit different from the western world.

I'm planning a trip to USA from Europe myself as well and want to see the NHL and NBA schedules as fast as possible, but I think it's pretty unlikely that the flights would be significantly more expensive on Friday than they are now.

that florida schedule shows that the olympic break is at most february 8th to 26th.

the actual olympics will be from the 7th to 23rd, meaning no NHLers for the opening ceremonies, but potentially 2 days to get back to north america. The schedule shows the first olympic games will be on the 8th, so it might be tough for some NHLers to make it (keep in mind sochi is 9 hours ahead of EST, so playing a game on the night of the 7th in the USA is actually morning of the 8th in russia).

It matters for booking flights/hotels, and taking time off work... so rather know sooner rather than later.

I just don't get how bad negotiators these NHL guys are.

We will have a decision till the WC...nothing happened
We are confident to get it done till the WC ends...nothing happened
Discussions are good and we will announce an agreement about the Olympics before the SC finals end...nothing happened
We will announce if our players go to Sochi before draft/FA (don't remember exactly) starts....and still no decision

Are they for real? Seems obvious that they still have no official agree- or disagreement when they can't announce the NHL sched yet so what did they do all the time?
Not saying the IIHF isn't to blame but that just seems to be BS negotiating.

Last I heard, it's waiting on NHLPA approval. You know how they like to sit on things for the fun of it.
