So four exceptions for 1-year experienced NA Pros leads to a bit of a pick-a-pack type of list:

Girgensons
Pysyk
Grigorenko (year of service in NHL)
Larsson
-----------
Gauthier-Leduc
Sundher
Lieuwen
Knapp

Leaving out Lieuwen and Knapp -- the right choice imo -- would leave us with Makarov, as Ullmark would almost undoubtedly not be available, Hackett is not eligible, and Petersen will be attending college. Works for me, as I wouldn't play either Lieuwen or Knapp over Makarov in a vacuum, nevermind at the expense of having Pysyk, Larsson, etc on the team.

Even though by all accounts, those two outperformed Makarov at the camp?

Old article but gives info about tournament rules.

So, you could have four "veterans" with 1-year pro experience.

If this is still correct, Pysyk is eligible, but McNabb isn't as a 2-year pro experience.

Also Armia can't join, because he has been a pro for 3 years in Finland.

Girgensons is only 1-year pro, so he could join.
I dont the rules of this--just applying logic.....

Armia---Europe experience doesnt count toward NHL service so why should it restrict him from playing. He hasnt even done an NHL game. If that isnt a prospect then what the hell is then.

Foligno---I look at his first yr as being when a player is eligble for the rookie of the year. What about a player who played 1- 2 games each year at the NHL level---neither one qualifies them as a rokkie---so they should count for this.

This doeant even bring up the issue of number of games played. foligno hasnt done a dull length NHL season yet.

Girggensons---his time in Rochester wouldnt count. As with Armia--both their contracts slid last year so why would that exempt them?

Ruhwedel should be eligible too. He did what 7 NHL games last year.

college players cant play if school is in session. Some of the Sabres picks have committed to college for next year.

Petersen's playing another year in the USHL before going to Notre Dame.

Baptisite may not be available as the Sudbury Wolves are in this Russian challenge series again and he will be leaving Russia probably around September 1st. Back the 2nd and jettlagged I would guess, so he participation until confirmed should be a question mark.

By all accounts? That's definitely not true. Knapp predictably looked the worst of all the goalies in dev camp and Lieuwen was not impressive at all.

He said that about Armia before he realized European experience doesn't count, which is why he edited his comment.

Girgenson's time in the AHL absolutely does count and he can only play as one of the 4 players with a year of pro experience. Foligno can not play as he has two seasons of pro experience. Ruhwedel may be eligible depending on how they define a season of pro experience, seeing as how he played very few pro games.

Not that he needs to play - but since there wasn't a tourney last season due to the lockout, could the PTB not count last season as a years experience and thus Foligno would be eligible to play as one of the four players with one years NHL experience?

Petersen was the best tender, Ullmark in new gear and Makarov were the next tier, then Lieuwen/Knapp. Neither of the holdovers were good in my viewings.

I saw essentially 1/3rd of what was available to watch in dev camp and read every post on it. Knapp looked bad, Lieuwen looked better in comparison to Knapp, Makrov and Ullmark looked promising if a bit raw, and Petersen was easily the guy who most impressed everyone. Nothing I've read runs contrary to that.

The Wild and Stars have released their tournament rosters. Any others?
IIRC the Sabres were the last to release their roster 2 years ago.

Interesting, the Wild have 12 invitees. I can't imagine that the Sabres will have more than a few.

Depends on what counts as pro experience as far as this tournament is concerned. It's possible, although purely speculation on my part, that Girgensons doesn't count as having pro experience because he had his contract slide.
