What a complete line that 3rd line would be. You got your sandpaper from Shaw, your speed/energy and playmaking ability from Saad, and your shooter from Morin. Has potential to be at least as good as Bickell-Bolland-Frolik was.
Those top 3 lines are just ridiculous. We will be able to withstand injuries and keep the lines rolling again this year for sure. This team, on paper, is better than last years version.

Can we replace Frolik on the PK?
Can the PP improve (even though it probably won't have to?
Can Pirri fit in to the top 6?

Other than that, there really aren't any questions to answer.

If Morin, Pirri and Smith make the team, Bollig stays as the 13th forward, and the Hawks trade Brookbank in favor of Stanton (at 600K), Chicago will have 2.1M+ in cap space for the upcoming season.

With the Love Q and Bowman have for a good/great D I still don't really think they will trade Brookbank away

I really do have a good feeling about this year. Which is a huge improvement over how I felt going into 2010-2011

What do you think the Blackhawks lineup will look like for opening night in the 2013-2014 NHL season?

My guess, which is likely wrong:

Brandon Saad ($0.894m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)
Patrick Sharp ($5.900m) / Brandon Pirri ($0.870m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)
Bryan Bickell ($4.000m) / Marcus Kruger ($1.325m) / Jeremy Morin ($0.887m)
Andrew Shaw ($0.578m) / Michal Handzus ($1.000m) / Ben Smith ($0.563m)
Brandon Bollig ($0.575m) /

Brent Seabrook ($5.800m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m)
Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) / Johnny Oduya ($3.383m)
Nick Leddy ($2.700m) / Michal Rozsival ($2.200m)
Sheldon Brookbank ($1.250m) /

Corey Crawford ($2.667m)
Nikolai Khabibulin ($2.000m)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,504,295; BONUSES: $677,500
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,473,205

Ideally, a guy like Smith lessens the impact of losing Frolik.

In 3 years

After McNeil rose to the occasion in the 2016 playoff run as the second line center (hawks lost to Islanders in 7) Chicago makes a few moves.
Bickell and Leddy for rising star D Tinordi and a 2nd from Montreal.
Oduya gone now , hawks rely heavily on the likes of Hainsey and Tinordi to kill penalties and help a less effective Seabrook. Fournier still not strong enough although he is tenacious and gets the 6-7 spot. Shaw enjoying his extension is a heart and soul player and the 6th best selling hawks jersey.
Craw resigns 5-years after cap goes up, Raanta goes to pursue a number one Job with the Avalanche.

Saad-Toews-Kane
Sharp-McNeil-Hossa
Shaw-Danault-Teravainen
Hartman-B.Boyle--Kruger

Keith-Tinordi
Seabrook-Hammer
Clendening-Hainsey
Fournier

Crawford
-Hedberg

Hedberg? He's going to be incredibly old. He may even be older then than Khabibulin is now.

No point in trading Brookbank right? We were worried about Rozsival in a shortened season, why would we be less worried in an 82 game season, dealing with a cup hangover (awesome), and playing around the Olympics?

What would the extra $2.1 mil even be used for?

It keeps your options open at the trading deadline. 2.1 overall is like what, a 4-5 mil player come trading deadline? That said - Stan isn't the type of GM to make splashes at the trading deadline.

And he never will be. Pending a very small depth move (like he usually does) I think this roster is pretty much concrete.

No reason not to keep Brookbank and split that #6 Dman spot between him, Stanton, and Rozsival. I think one of, if not THE biggest single reason we won the cup was our defensive depth. If Keith and Seabrook don't have to play 28 minutes a night then we'll be much better off

I still think the Hawks will look to move Brookbank at some point, especially if one (or more) of the numerous Dmen in the AHL get off to good starts (Stanton, Peckham, Kostka, Olsen, Dahlbeck).

That's when you know things are going good, when you start forgetting guys but the lineup still looks stacked.

Still wish we could give that last roster spot to a tough guy. We need a little more heft in the line up when we play teams like St. Louis. Its a reason I wish they didn't trade Carcillo.

I still think we see this..

Bickell-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Pirri-Hossa
Saad-Shaw-Morin
Kruger-Zues-Smith
Bollig, Hayes

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Oduya
Leddy-Roszival
Brookbank, Olsen (Rockford)

Crawford
Bulin Wall

I still have faith in Pirri impressing in the last couple of games to earn a spot and get his 10+ game assessment in with Q and company. I'd rather see Hayes in then Smith, but Q really likes Smith and desperately wants a PK partner for Krugs. He's also likes Morin alot, so I would think he's all but assured a spot as well. No matter how you assess it, this might be the grittiest team the Hawks have iced in years.
