Chatter regarding the schedule...

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey...o%2FjiHJ3o9ZiN

Quote:
A source told the Star that a leaked copy of the Florida Panthers’ 2013-14 NHL schedule suggests the league is going to take time off in February to accommodate the Games.

The Panthers are not commenting on the schedule that is making its way through Twitter but a copy of it was obtained by the Miami Herald.

On it, the Panthers play Feb. 7 and then again Feb. 27.

17 day break is a long ass time. Season and playoffs will probably end around the same time as this year.

Pittsburgh and Washington were also soft. There's one thing you need to do to beat the Habs: play physical. It's been like that for 20 years. The habs refuse to battle in front of the net, drive to the net, or take the hit to make the play.

Remember when we played them in 2008, their fans claimed to have "outplayed us" the entire series and we were lucky. They claimed that because they out shot and out hit us. That means absolutely nothing when 90% of your shots come from the perimeter with no one screening the goalie. They only out hit us because our players took hits to make plays. Let's forget to mention that it took MTL 5 games to even have a lead on the scoreboard.

There's a reason why Habs fans are considered the most delusional in the league. They never lose because they just straight up weren't good enough. They lose because a) the refs screwed them over b) the other team cheated c) the other team was just lucky d) we cought Carey Price on a bad day

While I love Olympic hockey when the NHL participates...it's really a killer for some teams b/c of the extra wear and tear on the players. Timonen better not freakin play....although last time he said he felt obligated.

no doubt he plays if he's "healthy"

Remember in 2006 when Forsberg wasn't even healthy but played anyways?

I used to always root for no Olympians.

No doubt Giroux will be there. Hopefully nobody else. But I'm sure Timonen and Streit will play for their countries. Voracek as well.

Habs fans are brutal for the most part. I remember earlier this year when we played them Subban was pulling his normal antics. A Habs fan came into our thread and suggested the only reason we are criticizing Subban was because he was African-Canadian despite the fact that Wayne Simmonds is one of the more popular players on a team. He was a mod too.

Timonen may even be captain of Finland. Hopefully our defense is healthy and we can rest Kimmo down the stretch. It would give Gustafsson a chance to move up and another prospect as well.

If Giroux misses the Olympics he will be having a pretty poor season.

My guess for Olympians:

Canada
-Claude Giroux

Finland
-Kimmo Timonen

Switzerland
-Mark Streit

Czech Republic
-Jakub Voracek

Denmark
-Oliver Lauridsen

Given his history with Crosby, I wouldn't be surprised if G is snubbed because Crosby doesn't want him there.

Reportedly 17 days off for an Olympic break. Makes me wish Kimmo wasn't playing for Finland. But I wish the guy all the best.

ummm, that's not how things work

Giroux is a lock to be there, unless he a) has a brutal season b) is injured

It can suck for the NHL teams at times but Olympic hockey is some of the best hockey.

He's on every one of these teams.

If USA has an advantage, its in goal. But everywhere else. That Canadian Olympic team is ridiculous.

USA's defense and wings are gonna be REALLY good. Center is kinda weak. IMO Backes and probably Pavelski are the only locks, but if Kesler, Stepan, Stasny, and/or even Oshie have good, healthy seasons to that point...Pavelski may get bumped to 13th/14th fwd

USA probably has the best goaltending outside of Finland. I'd go Quick, Miller, Howard/Schneider. Pretty good group when Howard/Schneider, Thomas, and Gibson get left off.

I hope we see a 3rd/4th line of Brown - Backes - Callahan. Even Ray Lewis wouldn't enjoy playing against that line.

I would take Canada's defense but I don't think the US's is that far off from them to be honest. Canada has a ton of guys who play the right side and not much on the left. The US has a nice balance between that.

Price and Luongo should be 1 and 2. Anything after that doesn't really matter.

Swedish goaltending should be very good as well with Lundqvist
