If Kimmo comes back, I think one of Coburn/Grossman are moved at the draft(or around that time.)

Kimmo-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Gus-xxxx(maybe a prospect)

I wouldn't like having a young Gus and another young prospect paired together though.

Also with the cap, he could except a bonus laden contract as well. Something similar to what Iggy signed with in Boston.

Yea, that would be crazy risky to have Gus be the "vet" on that pairing.

If we win a Cup with Timonen in the next two years I'd be all for retiring his number. At this point he's been here long enough he known as a Flyer for his career. Especially if he plays in 2 Olympics as a member of the Flyers. He been an alternate captain his entire tenure here. Hes been here through two entirely different rosters and played in two Winter Classics and two allstar games. A Cup would just solidify his legacy in this city. Let's make it happen for Kimmo.

Another year and he will probably be in the top 40 all time for points as a D man.

HOF? Better stats than Rod Langway, Jaques Laperriere, Serge Savard and Leo Boivin... (for anyone with no sarcasm filter.)

Tbh, he could not be inducted, the hall would be no more within a year, no-one would look at anything but the section on him and it would instead just become a shrine to the new religion of 'Kimmoism', which due to the millions coming would cause the building to be structurally unsafe, and bring Toronto to a standstill with the queues to get in.

I really wouldn't want to give up Grossman. If the cap goes up Flyers might be okay keeping the d together. Let's let this season play out though. Coburn needs to bounce back and Gus needs to play a full season. I really like the Flyers defense this season, lets worry about that before asking whats going to happen after it. Too many question marks.

Hopefully Kimmo can stay untill we've drafted his first born child. Girl or boy, that kid will dominate.

Or we could draft Kapanens kid next year and convert him to D like we did his Dad for a while!

Seriously (apart from the convert to D) I hope we draft him, kid played SM Liiga with his Dad as a 16 year old this year, and scored 4 goals in 13 games. Also got 8 points in 7 in the u-18 WJC, 9 in 5 in the U-17 WJC (and was assistant captain.)

He is already on record saying he wants to play in the NHL, preferably for the Flyers or 'Canes.

Hopefully he goes in the 2nd, he is pegged there or late 1st atm, but who knows after another year!

Think your math is a bit off... In $12m plus hypothetical $4 - though I have seen articles that suggest the cap with stay the same or only rise by $3m - you need to resign, Kimmo, Gustafsson, Schenn, Courturier and potentially Bourdon, Mason and Emery. They're all costing us in the regions of $13m as it is. I think that at Schenn and Couturier alone eat up most of that change...

If you could do it though you're telling me I could get Kimmo signed for one year or keep Read long term... I think that's a tough call to make. I'd probably trade Grossmann and keep L. Schenn, Coburn, Gustafsson, Streit and Kimmo then try and squeeze Read in...

Mario Kempe's little brother Adrian is projected to be a late first rounder next year as well for another Flyers connection.

He's bigger than his old man, but not too much bigger... I think.

Looked it up, he's as tall as Sami, but I'm sure he could be up to 6 feet and be at least 180 to 190 lbs when he's NHL ready.

I have seen him play, (on TV, not in the flesh, though I did go to a SM-liiga game (Jokerit) this year, they were not playing KalPa!) and he looks taller than he is listed at, especially on the ice when compared to Sami, if Sami is 5ft9, Kasperi is probably 6ft now, 5ft11 minimum.

He only turned 17 today as well, so could add another inch or two before he stops growing.

this thread deserves a bump

Kimmo has been great since the Olympic break

I wish he was 10 years younger as I'm really going to miss this guy once he retires

I'm beginning to think this may not be the last season for Kimmo, I'm thinking the Flyers will try to squeeze another year out of him.

It really depends on him if he wants to play or not but I'm thinking there will be an offer from the Flyers for another year.

Yeah, he has actually gotten better as the season has gone on. I think maybe he comes back next season now. He'd have to take a pay cut, but something like $4m would be workable, even with a ~$68.5 million cap. They might have to give him a deal like Iginla got where most of it comes in easily attainable bonuses.

I'd really like to bring him back. Even if he regresses a bit further, it'd be great to have him around to mentor some of the young guys, if any of them happen to make the jump.

Also, I don't want to picture this defense without him...
