Madison Square Garden has an exemption from NYC property taxes. One condition is that any home games played in New York have to be at the garden. Otherwise MSG loses its tax break

Actually, the Devils have 22 back-to-backs (highest in the league, lowest is 10)

They wanted to make sure Schneider had a chance to play.

Yeah. How many teams are the Rangers closer to than they are the team closest to them? 12?

I take it that Colorado will challenge Vancouver for most-traveled team in the NHL when all is said and done on the 2013-14 NHL season.

And we have an All-Original-Six home opener on Oct. 28 vs the Montreal Canadiens! I'm always excited for matches against the flagship teams of the league, even more so when it's an opening night date at the Garden!

I believe it was Girardi who talked about it at a season subscriber event.

Apparently the road trip is actually good for the team, because it brings them together, and helps them get used to the new look team better.

Early season road trip can be a bonding experience for the team: without distractions they should be able to focus on tactics AV decides to use. I rather get the West Coast trip out of the way early.

The team also will likely come home after their game in St. Louis. The next 3 road games are in Washington, NJ, and Philly, a period of about two weeks between St. Louis on 10/12 and Detroit on 10/26, so that's not to bad. They will likely practice at home and travel to Wash, NJ, and Philly just for the games.

All new division/conference names always sound strange when you are used to something else. Pretty soon Metropolitan Division will be the new norm and sound natural. Many who put it down now will likely be the first to complain when and if it changes again.

Don't think it will be called the Metropolitan Division in everyday talk but will likely be shortened to Metro or the Met.

Just talking it over with brother and a few friends.

How much you think the "cheap" tickets for one of the outdoor games would go for?

I'd like to think the since this isn't the Winter Classic, it'll be cheapr than this, but I'm gonna guess $80.

Winter Classic or not, I figured Rangers in an outdoor game at Yankee Stadium would be atleast double that price. Maybe I am wrong.

So with the rotating schedule of 5 games vs 2 teams and 4 games vs 6 teams, it looks like for this year, our 5 games will be against New Jersey and Washington.

So 26 of our games are back-to-backs.

What ****ing moron puts these schedules together.

"Metropolitain" Division? Really?

Pacific. Central. East. Atlantic.

How hard is that?

NHL incompetence is perpetual.

We have one of the fewest back-to-backs. The devils have 22 - or 44 games!

Man, the NHL really sucks at everything. Over half the Devils games are in back-to-backs... really?

Metropolitan division? Really?

Can someone explain the matrix to me real quick because I forgot. I thought it was 5 or 6 against your division, and then two vs the rest of the league but I see we play the Sabres three times.

Color me confused.

EDIT - Well, if anyone else was interested:

Coyotes 2
Kings 2
Sharks 2
Ducks 2
Blues 2
Caps 4
Devils 5
Flyers 4
Red Wings 3
Habs 3
Isles 5
Sabres 3
Canes 4
Penguins 4
Blue Jackets 4
Panthers 3
Bruins 3
Stars 2
Predators 2
Lightning 3
Canucks 2
Jets 2
Flames 2
Wild 2
Maple Leafs 3
Blackhawks 2
Sens 3
Avalanche 2
Oilers 2

So I guess it's your division four or five, other conference division three, and western teams 2.
