Hawks scouting the Rangers

Quote:
Chicago pro scout Marc Bergevin has been tailing the Blueshirts from coast-to-coast. The Blackhawks could use help on defense. There's a punch line in there somewhere
http://www.nypost.com/seven/10312006...rry_brooks.htm

The Hawks do have Jassen Cullimore who they have no use for.He has struggled since joining the Hawks before the NHL lockout.Cullimore has one more season remaining on his contract after this season with a $1.9 million cap #

Maybe the Rangers and Hawks swap their problems

Would the Hawks trade Bryan Smolinksi($1,976,000)for one of the Rangers defensemen-Darius Kasparaitis/Marel Malik/etc.Smolinksi is a group III this summer. With the loss of Michal Handzus the Hawks are thin at center but maybe they look to bring back David Bolland and move Smoke to open up a spot

The Canucks director of player personnel Lorne Henning was also at the Rangers game last night.Dave Maloney interviewed Henning between the first and second period. The Canucks are rumored to be in the market for a defensemen but they are right up against the cap

malik, roszival, and kasper all looked awful last nite and to be honest none of them have played up to par this season i would look into making a deal for cullimore more than smolinski only bc they are thin at center and they prob would have a hard time parting with him this early, however id love to get pock into the top 6, rachunek could also be headed to shytown, im just curious if we could unload 2 d-men for 1 and a mid pick?

rachunek and kasper for cullimore and a 4th round pick?

Aside from Tyutin, the Hawks can have their pick of the litter. I want draft choices in return. Play Pock and Baranka.

The only D-man from them worth taking a flyer on would be Seabrook...

if the hawks are looking for a dman they are looking in the wrong place cause we don't have any nhl caliber dmen...

in fact if i was scouting looking for a dman and saw the rangers play i'd immediately call my gm and tell him "you know maybe our blueline isn't as bad as we thought"

While the Hawsk might indeed need some D-men, I think they haven't scored in about 4 games and so offense might be a priority..They have always been enamored with Prucha and given that we have Hossa to easily take Prucha's spot, why not...

Bur seriously, they may be willing to deal one of CUllimore, Vandermeer or Aucoin (i'd rather have one of Seabrook or Koukkonen) but does that help us...But I'd easily to a Hossa and a D-man for one of their D-men..Killing two or three birds with one stone...

And one guy I would never want is Smolinski..He's Cullen-lite..And not one prone to be giving maximum effort all the time--whioch is one of the huge problems..

Like I said in another thread, Aucoin has played for Renney a few times and they get along, wouldnt surprsie me to hear they're looking to aquire him.

Ha, Seabrook, like the Hawks are just waiting to get rid of him.....

Adrian Aucoin would give this team exactly what they need. A SOLID #1 defenseman.

I like him, always played good against us when he was on the Island.

Agreed. That said, he's by no means a #1 defenseman.

No, but he is a #2. And that makes him head and shoulders better than anyone else that we have. Off course, the Hawks would have to take a contract (Malik or Kasper/Ozonlish back).

I really can't imagine a team wanting any of our defenseman outside of Tyutin and Ward, but if so I would trade anybody outside of Toots, for a bag of pucks. Just to get their cap space of the hook for this and next year would be worth it.

And that might be the attraction for them. They would get rid of an extra year and drop about $700,000 or so in such a deal. (Unless, Kaspar went the other way.)

Adrian Aucoin-4 years/$16 million

Signed through 2008-09

Aucoin has been a disaster since signing that contract

Taking on $4 million for 08-09 isn't worth it

I will politely agree to disagree.

We were offering him the same contract, I just think he is cursed by the Blackhawks.

Have you followed Aucoin in Chicago? It's been one injury after another.Groin injuries.Shoulder surgery

The Rangers did make a similiar offer to Aucoin and he wanted no part of the Rangers.Aucoin signed the contract with Chicago and has failed to live up to his salary salary and he will be 35 years old in the last season of the contract

No

Aucoin's not the answer...

and honestly, I don't know who is. One would think this team needs help on the PP point. But if the Rangers got an Aucoin, would Renney even play him? The Rangers got Ozo for the PP. He came here and tallied 11 PP points in 19 games. I do not like Ozo. I don't like him here, but why not play him to his only strength? I don't know what the Rangers and Renney are thinking.
