Hope you're alright dude.

Anyway - was anyone else at the Pearl Jam show @ Wrigley last night?

They played for about 45 minutes, then had a 3 hour lightning/rain delay. Then they came back again around midnight and played until 2am. They said they wanted to stay, but they were told that was it. Was a fun time...strange. They played 3 songs off their new CD that comes out in October and I thought they all sounded great. Due to getting cut-off short by Wrigley, they didn't play some of their most famous songs like Better Man, Alive, Yellow Ledbetter, etc.

Pearl Jam has so much good material. Great band name also. If a song really rocks, we call it a ram jam. Sometimes I miss the days when bands could jam out for 9 minutes to a song like Free Bird and it could get played on new music stations, not just classic rock ones. Speaking of Lynyrd Skynyrd, I like Shinedown's remake of Simple Man. Do you guys?. It just started playing while I was typing this.

I almost got hit by a car once, but I dieseled up and it turned into me hitting the car instead of the other way around. Car didn't survive.

The concert was cuh-RAZY. (excuse the long post to follow)

Supposed to meet my friend at Wrigley at 530. I was on time, she showed up an hr late, her other travel buddies ran late. She had 2 sets of tickets: 2 in row 12 on Stone's side, and 2 about 40 rows back more centered. At first I was sitting back in row 40, but the dude sitting with her would rather have sat more squared up 40 rows back, so I gladly moved up, I thought the row 12 seats were awesome.

Show started 45 minutes late due to an electrical issue, which put us right in the middle of a storm about to pass by. They got 7 songs in before Eddie said we had to evacuate the field for safety as heavy winds were coming and they didn't want to risk the huge rig coming down. He said it would take 30 minutes to evacuate and the storm was expected to last 30 minutes, so they would hope to start up again in about an hr (10pm). Well, my friend and I snuck into the VIP area, ran into Dennis Rodman, a bunch of Blackhawks (I think) Kenny Mayne from ESPN, but I got kicked out when I stepped away to try to get better cell reception. She stayed in the VIP area the rest of the show.

I was hanging out by the ivy in right field (where several dudes took a leak on rather than wait in long lines). It took about an hr to evacuate the field and by then, the storm started.

By the time the rain ended and we all got back inside, 2 1/2 hrs passed, it was 1130. And the curfew at Wrigley? 11:30. But the band tweeted that they were still going to play a full show. Ed came out, put on a vintage Cubs jersey of Jose Cardinal and sang the song he wrote for the Cubs a few years ago, it was awesome. And right after that, hall of gamer Ernie Banks came out, really cool stuff.

They then started up again and played all the way until 2am, 2 1/2 hrs past curfew, barely anyone left during the delay.

The problem then became how to get 40,000 people that took cabs and trains to Wrigley home at 2am. I am sure they expected to be done at midnight, many fans would go to local bars and it would be easier to get cabs. But it was closing time around Wrigleyville and there were zero available cabs and I was a 15-20 minute car ride away from my hotel, about 10 miles.

I walked for about 10 minutes in the general direction of my hotel and finally found an empty bike/cab. I asked if he could take me to a spot where I could get a cab, he said no way, there's no cabs within a few miles. I said how much, seriously? He said $40 cash up front and he would take to me the area where the bars are open until 4. I had to get back, so I gave him the cash and took a seat.

The driver asked if I wanted a beer, and of course I did, so he gave me a tall PBR and off we went. He was crazy, darting in and out of car and foot traffic, but no luck for about 10 minutes. Finally we got to a bar where a cab was just dropping someone off and he crossed in front of oncoming traffic and dropped me at the cab. I thanked him, and 10 minutes later I was at the hotel.

Pretty amazing night.
