I would say anything from four years & on is long-term to answer your question though.
Oh. It seemed like you were saying it's stupid to sign him now

I know it stopped being funny about a century ago, but those revenge offersheets really did crush our team

Great signing. Does this mean Brayden Schenn is next? Hopefully.

Nope, it's good for both sides. I was just saying there's no need to lock him up longer than two years right now.

There's a risk in a long-term deal for both the Flyers & Couturier.

Hopefully, but I could see him wanting to wait a year and get a better deal

Yup, hopefully by the end of summer. I don't expect his cap hit to be much higher than it is now since most of it is performance based currently.

The actually cap hit will be higher. Right now most of his cap is just eating of the bonus cushion.

His cap hit with the bonuses are 3.11m. Do you really think he's worthy of a salary above that?

$2.75-$3m. Giroux showed way more promise at the point than Schenn has so far & only got $3.75M as a caphit.

Giroux had showed the same as Schenn when he got his deal. Giroux got his contract before his breakout season.

Giroux scored 21 points in 23 playoff games in 2010 before getting his new deal in November 2010. BSchenn has not done anything close to that.

Claude Giroux had 47 points in the season before his contract extension, Schenn had 45 prorated points (26 points in 47 games).

Giroux's play off numbers was 26 points in 29 games too Schenns 9 points in 11 games. They are much more even than people realize. The only reason Giroux's numbers look more impressive is because he played a full season and we had a deep play off run.

Solid deal for sure. Love the cap hit, will be a steal for those two years. How are we ever going to be able to manage the cap and resign all our players . Just have to sign Schenn now so we don't have to fear those awful offer sheets coming from Nashville.

Prorated numbers are crap when you realize players have dry streaks. Schenn has been guilty of these so far.

And his numbers in the playoffs are nothing compared to Giroux's. Giroux did it against 4 good teams with good goaltending. Schenn did most of those points against fleury. I could probably put up 6 points in a playoff series with Fleury in net.
