Giroux actually signed his extension during the season that year on November 8th. He played 15 games, he had 7 goals & 7 assists up to that point.

And it's still more than Schenn's showed to this point.

And his numbers in the playoffs are nothing compared to Giroux's. Giroux did it against 4 good teams with good goaltending. Schenn did most of those points against fleury. I could probably put up 6 points in a playoff series with Fleury in net.
In 2013 Schenn already had a very long dry streak (I mean if we only looked at his start he was at PPG)

Fact is Schenn has looked better than people realize and is right on the path Giroux had as well.

Schenn was at a PPG pace at the beginning of this season.

I'll break it down by 6 games at a time
Games #1-#6 : 0-2-2
Games #7-12 : 2-4-6
Games #13-18 : 2-4-6
Games #19-24 : 2-3-5
Games #25-30 : 0-0-0
Games #31-36 : 1-2-3
Games #37-42 :1-1-2
Games #43-48 : 0-2-0

Total : 8-18-26

He has a lot of good few game runs then disappears. That's not consistent. He wasn't a PPG in the beginning of the season

Can you then do the same for Giroux in his 2nd full season? I bet their was several dry streaks in that season

That's too many games for me to list right now

But, Giroux was held pointless 4 games straight 3 times. 4 times if you want to count his really long dry streak

But staying consistent over a 48 game season is much easier than staying consistent over a 82 game season

Good deal. Id like to lock schenn up 3 mill for 5 years. Think he will be more than worth that in a year prob and possibly be one of the better deals in the league.

I like it its a good deal for the Flyers, and hopefully it lets Couturier focus 100% on this season and not worrying about playing for a contract.

That would take him to UFA. I'd prefer a contract that takes him to his final RFA year

True, but I just think people sometimes get too caught up in perception and people forgot that Giroux wasnt this ppg player we love now when he signed his old deal.

He showed much more brilliance during that year, the playoffs, and the first part of the season than Schenn has so far. You can't really argue that.

Well Giroux was fresh off a dominate playoff run (where it matters most).

Glad that this is done. Now the only other important RFA/UFA is Matt Read.

So the regular season does not matter? I mean I dont remember the Flyers in the play offs last season.

I call that BS. People remember what they wants to remember and what we remember is that Giroux is really good now, so he must also have been really good back then.

What the hell are talking about? I said the playoffs matter the most not that the regular season doesn't. They don't hand out the Cup during the regular season and you're not playing the bottom feeders in the playoffs. The regular season matters but not compared to the playoffs.

Leading up to Giroux's contract he had 21 points (10G, 11A) in 23 playoff games and then 14 points (7G, 7A) in 15 games to start the next season. The Flyers obviously saw enough to where they felt like they better try to strike a deal before it cost them more money (which it would have by the end of that season when he ended up with 76 points in 82 games).

He was really good then. Not just in the regular season, but also the playoffs. IIRC he was also playing 3rd line minutes while slotting up for injuries. 47 points for that is really good

After BSchenn gets his deal we will have 9 out of our top 12 and 4 out of the top 6 signed for the next 3 seasons.

How many RFA years will Couts have remaining after this deal is over?

Also, obviously all hail the great and mighty Couts!
