Just a random thought here but isn't Belov the ideal partner for Schultz? Heard he has a strong offensive game and is reliable defensively. Never really thought of him and Schultz together. Hmm. Just something to think about.

Nick or Justin?

I'm not all that familiar with Belov's game, but as a LHD I would imagine he's probably better on the left side. Nick is too, though they say he can play both (if that's true, why have the Oilers never put him there?). Justin plays RD, but a second year pro with a guy who's never played on small ice before doesn't sound like a winning recipe to me.

What the heck, I'll take a crack at this:

Trade Hemsky (at half salary, if needed) for Joel Ward
Trade a pick and a prospect (maybe 2014 3rd and Rajala) for Kyle Clifford
Trade as little of Nick Schultz/Marincin/Nurse as possible for Braydon Coburn

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Peron-Gagner-Yakupov
Jones-Gordon-Ward
Clifford-Lander-Joensuu
Brown

I think that's a pretty solid, tough-minutes 3rd line, and some decent beef on the bottom line. Maybe Eager can come to camp and work his way into Eakins's good graces and the line up, as well.

Smyth can be bought out and come back as team mascot (he can sing Oh, Canada beside Joey)

Ference-Coburn
Smid-Petry
Belov-Schultz (PP, sheltered minutes)
Klefbom

Nice balance of rock solid experience in the top 4 to balance out the inexperienced potential of the bottom 3 D.

I could live with this. Thoughts?

Here's my go at this:

1. Trade Hemsky to Ott for Zach Smith
2. Trade Gagner to Wsh for Troy Brouwer
3. Tade Potter and conditional pick (based on games played) to Phi for Meszoros
4. Sign Tim Connolly for 1.75 mil
5. Trade N.Schultz for draft pick (I'd like him on the team and rather get rid of Belov, Larsson, and Garbagekov, but salaries don't work)

Hall 6 RNH 3.775 Eberle 6
Perron 3.813 Connolly 1.75 Yakupov 3.775
Brouwer 3.667 Gordon 3 Jones 1.5
Eager 1.1 Smith 1.88 Smyth 2.25
Brown 0.737
Fwd Total 39.247

Smid 3.5 Petry 1.75
Ference 3.25 J.Schultz 3.775
Belov 1.525 Meszaros 4
Grebeshkov 1.5
Larsson 1.025

Def Total 20.325

Dubnyk 3.5
Labarbera 1

Goal Total 4.5
Total Cap 64.072

Note: When I actually went through this exercise I found Smyth just has no value or spot on the team. His cap hit would be much better served trying to get somebody like Joel Ward in a Hemsky trade and signing Steckel in Zach Smith's place.

See ya
Ace

I'd actually like to see us offer Connolly a short term deal. It would allow Nuge to be 100% healthy, and give us some extra competition down the middle

Resign Gagner
Trade Petry for Okposo

Hall/Gagner/Yak
Perron/Nuge/Eberle
Okposo/Gordon/Hemsky
Joesnuu/Lander/Jones
Brown + Smyth

Smid/J. Schultz
N. Schultz/Ference
Grebs/Belov
Larsen

Dubnyk/Labarbara

-At the deadline move Hemsky for a pick or prospects
-move NSchultz for prospects or a pick

-Promote Hamilton, Acton, or someone else (even Rajala if he's doing very well and try him with nuge/eberle and drop perron to play with gordon/okposo) in place of hemsky
-Promote Klefbom, Marcinin, Davidson, or Fedun if Schultz is moved

Though what will likely happen
hall/nuge/eberle
perron/gagner/yakupov
jones/gordon/hemsky
joesnuu/hamilton/acton
brown + smyth

petry/smid
ference/jschultz
grebs/belov/nschultz

Find a way to make this happen:

Hall-Gagner-Yakupov
Perron-RNH-Eberle
Clifford-Gordon-Jones
Lander-Smithson-Smyth
Brown

Petry-Schultz
Smid-Ference
Belov-Schultz
Grebs
Larsen

Dubnyk

Hypothetically, if Gagner isn't signed

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Kulemin-Grabovski-Yakupov
Perron-Smith-Clifford
Lander-Gordon-Jones

Petry-Schultz
Smid-Ference
Belov-Greene
Schultz

That would be an amazing third line.

Can you elaborate on how we go about acquiring Kulemin, Clifford, Greene, and Smith
