Hall will likely be the only member of the Oilers on TC. Provided he stays healthy. I would love to see RNH and Eberle there but unless they absolutely set the world on fire this year it won't happen.

TSN doesn't have a single Oilers forward on their Team Canada projection...

Weird, last time they had the big 3 line together and Schultz as a possible

Eberle has outproduced Hall in the past, I wouldn't be completely stunned if he came out of the gates faster this year than Hall.

Why? Price is actually horrible. His career year was mm srginally better then Dubnyks this year. I wasn't him no where near the team

Luongo
Smith/Dube/Reimer
Holtby/ Price/ MAF

I wouldn't be surprised either but Eberle is also a RW.

Canada has less effective left wingers than right wingers... Eberle could still make it, but if TC wants to put players on their correct sides, then Hall is a better bet than Eberle.

There is a reasonable chance that Schultz will be in the top 2 or 3 scoring for Canadian defencemen when the roster is announced

Maybe, but if Schultz is on the team, you can expect a result like 2006.

For TCs sake if rather have to consensus 6D. All are better then Schultz. If he was top 3 in Canadian D scoring then I wouldn't mind him as the 7th D pure PP specialist

Here's that TSN link
their team Canada prediction does not include any oilers
At this time (before the season starts) i think Hall has a very legit chance to make the final roster
If Eberle plays well leading up to the Olympics he'll also have a shot however i don't see them both making it
But i sincerely hope one of them does

I have no idea what russias line up could look like but i do think yak makes that team

I think Yak is in a similar situation as Hall and Eberle. He needs to play really well to force himself onto that team. I would say even moreso. It's just how Team Russia is. They are extremely loyal to select players.

Schultz, like Nuge, may one day have a shot at the Olympics.

But he more than likely won't get an invite this time. It's not a knock on the player, it's a testament to how strong Canada is (and should be).

Yeah. He's not an option for a PP specialist because Team Canada will have several defensemen that are really good on the PP but also really good at playing defense as well. He would be redundant.

I would not want to pick this team. I wonder how much they will try to bring in players that fit roles (like Bergeron face/offs last time) and guys that could PK and be more of a traditional checking line. If they do this then it could hurt Hall/Eberle's chances.

Also another factor is the chemistry, if they're playing together and looking good, there's a better chance. Like Keith/Seabrook, Perry/Getzlaf, Sharks guys last time.

Forwards
Locks (if healthy): Crosby, Tavares, Stamkos, Toews, Nash (not sure why they love him so much, he wouldn't be a lock for me)
Most Likely: Giroux, Bergeron

After that it's a crap shoot and will depend on 1) who is playing well 2) if they want the chemistry 3) if they want players to have specific roles

6 more spots
Front runners: Staal, St. Louis, Sharp (versatile and a solid player), Getzlaf, Perry
Decent chance: spezza, neal, benn, hall, marleau, thorton, courture
possibility: skinner, seguin, Duchesne, eberle, richards, lucic, iginla

Defense
Locks: Weber, Keith
Most Likely: Pietrangelo, Doughty

Other 3 spots
Front runners: Subban, Letang, seabrook
decent chance: Green and marc staal,
possibilty: hamhuis, yandle, boumeester, myers, boyle

Goalies (ouch, crap shoot)
Most Likely: Price (even though he's subpar)

Front runners: ward, fleury, crawford, loungo, smith
possibility: schneider, dubnyk, brodeur

I'd say it will end up
Nash/Crosby/Giroux
Stamkos/Tavares/St. Louis
Sharp/Toews/Staal
Getzlaf/Bergeron/Perry
Hall
Weber/Doughty
Keith/Seabrook
Pietrangelo/Subban
Letang
Price/Fleury/Smith

If I was picking it would be
Stamkos/Crosby/St. Louis
Hall/Tavares/Giroux
Bergeron/Toews/Sharp (shutdown line, D zone faceoffs)
Nash/Couture/Perry
Getzlaf
Weber/Pietrangelo
Letang/Subban
Keith/Green
m. staal if healthy or seabrook
Loungo/Ward/Price

-goalies specifically i'd go with who is playing well since they're so close

I wouldn't consider Yak a lock for the Russian team but he definitely has a good chance to make the team. Anton Belov was the KHL's best defenseman so I'm sure he'll be invited. Marincin for Slovakia looks good too. I think the Olympics will be great for his development getting a chance to play with guys like Hossa, Chara, Visnovsky, Gaborik etc..

So I think Hall, Smid, Hemsky, Yakupov, Marincin will all be in the Olympics.
Not according to the mouth breathers over at TSN last night. They don't even have him in the picture. Not even as an extra forward. If I remember correctly, they selected Jamie Benn as the extra.

Their exclusion of Hall was shocking to me and more than a little insulting. This is a guy who was an All-Star left winger this year (**** Ovechkin) and they just flat out ignored him.

Yea, that TSN list was bad. McLennan thought Lucic should be there.. that would be a disaster on big ice.

McLennan needs to get off my television screen. Him and Mike Johnson. They're both freaking brutal to listen to.

Not an Oilers fan but if Taylor Hall isn't included on the team, not just at camp, and they keep Rick Nash then I have even less faith in Steve Yzermans abilities than I do right now. The team needs to infuse a couple young players for each cycle of the team and I would have Hall on any of the top 2 lines right now with Logan Couture as the extra forward.

In the latest Olympic tourney Nash had the second most icetime and shifts of the forwards, playing most of the time with Crosby and was tied for 7th in forward scoring. It is time to cut ties with this guy. Hall is on a definite upswing in his abilities, is showing his leadership on the ice and must be included on any team Canada. I am a Flyers fan and I would love for Giroux to make the team and to play on a regular line with a guy like Hall.

The problem for Eberle is the depth on right wing. The problem for Hall is the fact we are probably going to take like 8 centers and have tons of them play out of position.

Stamkos, Tavares, Giroux, and Staal likely all make the team and play wing, probably two of them on each side is my guess.

I think Hall could easily outplay the LWers, but could be tough for Eberle to do the same.

I just hope they don't have a team full of old slugs who get skate circles around all tournament. I'm already having flashbacks to 2006...

PK Subban would agree.

On the top three Canadian forwards:

You gotta respect the best player in the world, so Id put Crosby in there. Id probably say (John) Tavares. [long pause] Its a tossup between (Jonathan) Toews and (Jordan) Eberle, so lets go with four. Toews and Eberle.
