Don't you know he shut down Malkin in the playoffs 2 years ago.. Reading comments from Flyer fans here you'd think the guy was Bob Gainey, Guy Carbonneau and Sergei Fedorov all rolled into one.

Price number one goalie for Canada?!? LOL! Come on people take off your rose colored glasses. As much as I love the Habs, Price deserves no part of this.

Why exactly would an American be worried ? You should be happy with all the Price hate you have.

Let's Waite and see what Price does this year before penciling him in the line-up or basting him.

Devils have 22 sets of back to back games... ouch
On the other hand, it's the perfect time to split their games between Brodeur and Schneider

New Jersey has lost Clarkson, Parise, and Kovalchuk.

There is a real risk they could be losing Aaron Ekblad at the next draft.

I guess they could draft Connor McDavid at the following draft ...

Didn't look but somehow, 22 back to back games when it should mostly be against New York and Co isn't that much of a problem.

He has not earned the privilege.
Before the last ten games of this season he was a virtual lock to start.

He'll be invited for sure and at this point I think it's his job to lose.

I think he'll be one of the three goalies, but being the starter will depend on how October to January goes.

What makes or made him more of a lock to start than Luongo? ESPN experts? HFboards?

Who will be the goaltenders for Team Canada is really out there for me right now.
It all depends on the start of the season for many of them.

Crawford had great seasons last year and should get a consideration.

Luongo and Brodeur are the highly respected vets with a lot to show on their portfolio, but both will need to prove they are up for it again, with Luongo losing his starter job and having "regained" by default and Brodeur not being any younger.

Mike Smith having good seasons these past 2 years deserves a look.

Ward, Fleury both having proven they can be good haven't really been up to the standard lately.

Price, who I think has the best potential of all of the previous ones I've listed, but hasn't played to it yet, could earn a spot if he plays good this season.

I could be wrong on some of them, I'm still just a fan who only watches the Habs play, but that's what I think right now.

I agree. I think he was a lock but after the collapse he's opened the door.

He'd really have to **** the bed not to be invited though.

I said made or makes. You said Price was a lock to start for Canada before his last 10 games of the season. I ask you how was he a lock more than Luongo at this stage. I'd like you to bring some arguments.

How about the fact that Luongo was no longer the starter in Vancouver?

Patrick Roy was not a 'lock' going into the Olympics, and Price isn't good enough to tape Patrick's sticks. He is at best going to get an invite and compete. The position was never his to lose.

Except Canada's goaltending depth is crap and Price is as close to a lock as you get.

He still played 40% of the game for the Nucks this year, and Schneider ain't no Budaj. He actually had competition for the starting position. And Luongo have been better statistically than Price for the last 5 years during regular season, and a much better record during playoff ( a winning record and a respectable save % of 916 compare to a strong loosing record and a save % of .905.) Luongo has better accomplishement too, last goalie to win the olympics goal in 2010 with canada.

Unless stats means nothing and people have seen all games of those two goaltender, deeply analyzed all their goal allowed and made the conclusion with their deep goalie knowledge that Price was a far superior goalie than Luongo, and that they wasn't even a place for discussion about it.

Price might still have the potential to become a better goalie than Luongo, but what's matter for right now is the current product. Price hasn't done a thing to prove he is better than Luongo right now, and I'm not even a Luongo fan. Didn't made sense last year, in march 2013 or right now to consider him a ''lock'' to start. Sure, he is going to get and invite, like 4-5 other goalies, but he will have to prove he deserve to be the starter by having a strong season next year, better than his competition, and a solid Sotchi camp, and it's always been the case.

I come up with an idea of realignment and expansion on the main board, and the more I think about it, the more in makes sense. I'd like to know what you all think about this :

-------------

If Seattle enters the league, it's easy : they fit in the Pacific division.

But what happens if Quebec City gets its team? Who moves out west? It seems impossible to do without moving Columbus or Detroit back.

Unless we add a 3rd new team like Kansas City and build a system around 3 conferences.

Maybe something like that?

East
Montreal
Boston
Toronto
Ottawa
Quebec City
Buffalo
Rangers
Islanders
New Jersey
Florida
Tampa Bay

Central
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
Washington
Carolina
Columbus
Detroit
Chicago
Nashville
St. Louis
Kansas City
Dallas

West
Vancouver
Calgary
Edmonton
Anaheim
San Jose
Los Angeles
Phoenix
Seattle
Colorado
Winnipeg
Minnesota

Playoffs format :

- The 5 highest ranked teams per conference are qualified.
- The team with the highest point total that is not qualified yet also qualified.
- 2 playoffs divisions are then made : East and West. The 5 teams from the East go in the East, the 5 teams from the West go in the West. The 6 other teams are sent into the "playoffs division" that best fit their geographic status.

Example :

Final ranking :

East
  1. Montreal 104
  2. Rangers 103
  3. Boston 100
  4. Tampa Bay 98
  5. Toronto 94
  6. Islanders 91
  7. Ottawa 90
  8. Quebec City 89
  9. Buffalo 82
  10. New Jersey 79
  11. Florida 69

Central
  1. Pittsburgh 115
  2. Chicago 111
  3. St. Louis 103
  4. Detroit 102
  5. Philadelphia 99
  6. Dallas 95
  7. Washington 94
  8. Carolina 88
  9. Columbus 87
  10. Nashville 81
  11. Kansas City 65

West
  1. Los Angeles 107
  2. Vancouver 104
  3. Anaheim 97
  4. Minnesota 95
  5. Edmonton 95
  6. San Jose 94
  7. Phoenix 90
  8. Seattle 86
  9. Calgary 82
  10. Colorado 79
  11. Winnipeg 75

-----
That means Dallas is the best "6th team" and earns a spots. 6 Central divison teams are qualified. Pittsburgh, Detroit and Philadelphia are sent in the East, while Chicago, St. Louis and Dallas are sent in the West.

Playoffs divisions would be :

EAST
  1. Pittsburgh
  2. Montreal
  3. Rangers
  4. Detroit
  5. Boston
  6. Philadelphia
  7. Tampa Bay
  8. Toronto

WEST
  1. Chicago
  2. Los Angeles
  3. Vancouver
  4. St. Louis
  5. Anaheim
  6. Minnesota
  7. Edmonton
  8. Dallas

Then it goes on exactly like before : 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc.
