Prospect Comparisons

I'm not a scout or anything, just saw some random games of our prospects these are strictly my opinion.

I'm leaving Price, Subban, Pacioretty out of this as they are no longer prospects.

Alex Galchenyuk = Jonathan Toews
Louis Leblanc (if he gets his act together)= Poor man Patrick Sharp
Michael Bournival = Jay McClement
Brady Vail = Chad Kilger
Gabriel Dumont = Darcy Tucker lite
Jeremy Gregoire = Marc Bureau

Sebastian Collberg = Justin Williams
Brendan Gallagher = Theo Fleury
Patrick Holland = Gilbert Dionne
Christian Thomas = Steve Thomas lite
Artturi Lehkonen = Saku Koivu (signature move after goal WWF belt)

Charles Hudon = Mike Cammalleri
Tim Bozon = Martin Rucinsky
Sven Andrighetto = Zach Parise lite
Connor Crisp = Ryan Jones
Jacob de la Rose = Sergei Fedorov minus hands
Mike McCarron = Milan Lucic
Martin Reway = Cliff Ronning

Nathan Beaulieu = Matt Schnieder
Jarred Tinordi = Braydon Coburn/Mark Tinordi
Dalton Thrower = Andrew Ference
Morgan Ellis = Cory Sarich
Darren Dietz = Rhett Warrener
Greg Pateryn = Ryan O'Bryne
Mac Bennett = Keith Ballard lite

Zachary Fucale = Jaroslav Halak
Dustin Tokarski = Yann Denis

No pressure DLR, but we at HFboards think you should become one of the best two way forwards in the history of hockey. lol

When I say "lite" I mean they won't be that player. Also Fedorov minus hands means he won't put up 100 points or even 50 points. But he does have the mind and off the charts skating. Rarely do you see defensive minded players with superb skating and speed.

Fun list and all, but where do you come up with this stuff? You start off by saying ur no scout, then go on to compare all of our prospects(which, most of, u have probably never seen play) to some very great/solid proven NHL'ers

Just Comparisons, no potential --->

Alex Galchenyuk = Special Player.
Jacob de la Rose = Gabriel Landeskog, less offense player.
Sven Andrighetto = Zach Parise? Michael Cammalleri?.... I love this kid...
Brady Vail = Chris Kelly.
Michael McCarron = Bryan Bickell.
Sebastian Collberg = Ales Hemsky?
Nathan Beaulieu = Keith Yandle.
Jarred Tinordi = Robyn Regehr?
Zach Fucale = Reminds me of Carey Price.

Ok let's have fun and make comparisons!

Alex Galchenyuk: I honestly think he will be a poor man's Malkin without the physicality at worse. At best he could be a comparison of his own 15 years from now.

Jarred Tinordi: In the Chara mold minus the offense.

Nathan Beaulieu : Tough to call....taller Brian Raflaski i would say. Insane vision with slick passes. Better shot too.

Louis Leblanc : Everytime i see him i think of Chris Higgins but he would need to pick his offense. If not, he's a Chris Kelly at best.

Christian Thomas : VERY LITE Patrick Kane. He has insane puck skills.

Zachary Fucale : Also Carey Price for me....atheticism a little lower, but mentally he will be a lot stronger.

Michael Mccarron : Milan Lucic with less fighting abilities but better skating.

Sven Andrighetto : Oleg Petrov with tons of skills.

Hudon= I watched him play a couple of playoffs games againts Quebec. The way he carry his team on his back reminds me of how Claude Giroux did the same in the last 2 years with Philly.
But skill wise, he reminds me of Daniel Briere.

Bournival= From what I red about him, he's very similar to Daniel Paille, with Boston.

Nattinen= Smaller Mats Sundin without the physicality, hockey sense and finish. Also doesn't skate as well.

Nice comparisons/observations.
(Hudon...Claude Giroux+Daniel Briere
AND Bournival with Paille).

I read somewhere (I forget where) that Hudon has a heart of a warrior good for playoffs... a la Gilmour...not comparing Hudon to Gilmour but just writing that Hudon might have a huge heart, so...great for our Habs and playoffs...can't wait for Hudon to wear the CH jersey).

Comparisons:
J.Tinordi...Derian Hatcher, Mark Tinordi, less offensive C.Pronger, meaner/faster Hal Gill.

Gallagher (so much heart/guts)...less offensive version of T.Fleury, classier version of B.Marchand.

Galchenyuk...style of Marian Hossa, Toews, Malkin, Kopitar.

Leblanc...3rd line version of Patrice Bergeron.

I cringed several times while reading this thread. What is it with people's need to compare players to other players ? After amending a comparison with a prefix and a suffix (ie poor man nik lidstrom lite), how much sense does the comparison really make in the end ?

That said, I'm probably being a party pooper.

Our prospects pool is the best in the world when we check comparables here.

The comparisons are more of a stylistic comparison, we are comparing the way one of our prospects plays the game to the way someone else plays the game. For example, if someone is compared to Nik Lidstrom, they aren't saying that they will ever be as good is Lidstrom, they are just saying that said player posseses a similar skill set or plays the game in a manner that resembles the way Lidstrom played it.

Jarred Tinordi = Boris Valabik
Nathan Beaulieu = Chris Campoli
Sebastian Collberg = Alexander Perezhogin
Brendan Gallagher = Donald Audette
Zach Fucale = Yann Danis
Michael Bournival = Nicklas Sundstrom
Charles Hudon = Simon Gamache

There you go, I just crushed that positivism.

We should be happy if Gallagher and Bournival respectively become Audette and Sundstrom. Especially the latter.

Oh, De LA Rose = R. Niedermayer.

I agree with Trevor Timmins when he said "You shouldn't compare prospects"

That being said, I'll stop being a Buzz Killington and let you guys get back to your lofty comparisons.

I'll keep hoping! (L.Leblanc).

And...it's pretty fair (imo) to say J.Tinordi could turn out to be a faster/meaner/more offensive Hal Gill, or a Derian Hatcher with more offense.

jarred tinordi: in the chara mold minus the offense.

nathan beaulieu : tough to call....taller brian raflaski i would say. Insane vision with slick passes. Better shot too.

If he has 1/2 of rafalski`s iq , he will be a star

louis leblanc : everytime i see him i think of chris higgins but he would need to pick his offense. If not, he's a chris kelly at best.

Agreed but doubt he plays for us

christian thomas : very lite patrick kane. He has insane puck skills.

Doubt he pl;ays for us

zachary fucale : also carey price for me....atheticism a little lower, but mentally he will be a lot stronger.

Agreed

michael mccarron : milan lucic with less fighting abilities but better skating.

Tickled pink if turns into lucic

sven andrighetto : oleg petrov with tons of skills.

Well, i like more those type of comparables. They show that the poster has more knowledge of the game and the players in the league.
And that he doesnt only know the top20 players in the game.

I hate when I see : Tinordi = Chara. Damn man.
Tinordi is a lot closer to a guy like Eric Brewer or Bryan Allen, then ****in Zdeno Chara.
