I can't see Lucic having any realistic shot, and if he does it's just overrating 'toughness' once again.

I think Hall could easily outplay the LWers, but could be tough for Eberle to do the same.

I just hope they don't have a team full of old slugs who get skate circles around all tournament. I'm already having flashbacks to 2006...
They will put an emphasis on skating & conditioning this time around. That's why I don't see Eberle being close to the final roster while Hall...depending on how his first 6 weeks go next fall...might get some consideration.

The focus for right now is just limited to who gets invited to the summer camp.

I think both Eberle & Hall might make THAT list.

But...in the end...they will be selecting centres to take several of the winger spots.

Only guys like Tavares & Giroux are locks as natural wingers, IMO/

I think Rick Nash & Ryan Getzlaf are a couple players NOT geared for the big ice.

Especially Getzlaf...as much as I like how he plays...I doubt he can handle the pace on the big ice.

Same thing for Nash who looked like he has lost a step watching the playoffs this spring.

I agree. He's one of those guys that's great in the NHL and would probably not be very useful at the Olympics. Totally getting overrated because of his NHL value.

Hall really should make the team but Team Canada looks so deep I have my doubts that it will happen. Hall and Eberle better have big years if they want to be on that team.

Dubnyk should get an invite to camp though. He has always been there for Canada at the WC's.
Always been there cuz the Oilers haven't made the playoffs forever.
Absolutely no way he gets an invite to camp.

I have a feeling they'll go with Luongo/Smith/Ward.

Some combo of Price/Fleury/Crawford/Brodeur get the other invites to camp.

Why would they invite Dubnyk over any of those seven guys?

Canada can't and won't win on big ice because they never prepare themselves well for the surface.

Perry, Getzlaf, Thornton cannot be part of the equation. Nash and Benn doubtful as well.

Either way - Canada has trouble playing against the world's best when it comes to a IIHF ice surface.

Here's that TSN link
their team Canada prediction does not include any oilers
At this time (before the season starts) i think Hall has a very legit chance to make the final roster
For what its worth, Puck Daddy has Hall on the roster.

Russian Olympic camp roster was just issued. Yakupov in, Belov (surprisingly) out.

Is Belov off because he signed in the NHL?

Yakupov is also an elite talent.

I've read before about Russia liking guys that stick around and I wonder if that's the case here. Didn't Kuznetsov talk about wanting to stay in Russia as it would give him the greatest chance to make Team Russia?

Some really good KHLers were left off in Mozyakin, Svitov (nice checking forward).

D-man Kulikov is the biggest omission.....but Volchenkov is there.

Yakupov sees some love from Russian Hockey after being routinely spurned by the North American hockey writers during his first season in the NHL. Ruh roh.

I'm still amazed how some of you Oiler fans legitimately thought Dubnyk had any shot at making the team. He's not a big game goalie. He's a good back up.

But please, keep quoting his save % to group him with the elite.

I have no illusions about Dubnyk, but when it comes to Canada's goaltenders, I'm not really sure about who is "elite" anymore.

I'll bet that Kunitz makes the team at LW ahead of Hall.

I dont think anyone thought he would make the team, but some people thought he might have a chance at being invited to camp? with his previous suiting up for Canada at the worlds

Couldn't agree more. We have no elite goalies right now. We are relying on past "elite" tenders in Price and Luongo. It's time the Crawford's step up and prove it over time when it counts. Dubnyk should never have been in the conversation, but yet we have these stat gurus here pumping up his tires. Give me some consistency and we will talk.
