Nahhh....they will just say that signing Vinny was a waste when we had Couts ready to be a #2...lol. They will turn it around on us. The only way is if Vinny gets 60 points and Couts gets 40+.

Love this deal though! Now we gotta get Schenn on the exact same deal before the season starts and he breaks out!

He didn't come into the league scoring like Landeskog, Huberdeau or RNH, so he must be a bust It's not just Couts they do it with either; they love t call B. Schenn a bust

I really don't get it. Everyone likes to accuse not just the Flyers of being impatient (which to some extent they used to be, I think they're turning the corner) but us fans as being impatient as well. Yet they're the ones who want to be quick to label our young players and we're the ones preaching to everyone to give them time to show what they can be.
Not really. Couturier is one of the most asked for players on the trade forum. People understand his value, but when you make a case against Couturier, obviously you're gonna use his offensive totals to devalue him.

Reading the main boards is like repeatedly punching myself in the groin sometimes. I don't know why I bother going over there.

It rather confuses me that I see Flyers fans only posting on the main boards and never see them here. Do they not know this board exists or just enjoy talking to complete morons?

Every board is the same. You have your sensible fans that mostly post on their team's specific board. Then you have your douchebucket fans that overvalue their own prospects, undervalue every other team's prospects, and are generally just looking to start an argument. Those guys are the Flyers version of the latter.

The main boards have turned into a **** fest the last couple of years. It's kinda sad because they used to be a good place to get perspective from opposing fans. I'm done bothering with it.

I remember when someone on there said Emery was going to get a five year deal, and then a bunch of morons with axes to grind assumed it was true and started laughing about it. Of course when he only got one year they disappeared.

That's probably the most brain-dead aspect of the main boards: 4 pages of sarcastic responses to a rumour from a not-even-close-to-reputable source. The Emery 5-year deal was great for that.

What's odd is that everyone asks for Couturier, but then they spend the whole thread going on about how crappy he is

Then that random Toronto fan shows up to a Couturier thread like a bat signal to put all of us Flyers fans in our place by telling us he won't amount to anything & he has no trade value.

Yea I don't even know why I visit the main board at this point. I like talking trades in the off season though it helps me get by and in the past it's helped me gain knowledge on players around the league. At this point I can only laugh at some of those peoples posts.

Their information are always useful, there's no other way we would find out that Luke is half blind and blocks shots like a flamengo if those fans didn't exist!

It's not even Flyers related threads it's just Couturier related ones that he always posts in & it's the same song & dance every time with his rants.

Maybe it's Couturier himself and his version of Seguin's favorite pastime "having fun on the internet"

By the way, NHL's Facebook page just asked a very impotrant question: Who is the better forward? Dallas Stars Jamie Benn OR Florida Panthers Shawn Matthias

I don't know what his deal is but he's not too fond of Couturier judging by his posts.

One of those things isn't like the other.

Lol. Who is better an NHL All-Star or a guy who has 81 points in parts of a couple seasons and being a borderline NHL regular? Real tough.

Not so much that it isn't a good contract, more that it's representative of Couturier's upside and that he'll never be a good offensive player. Still seems a little early to be making that judgement though.

That St. Louis Blues fan is probably mad. With Couts signed through next year that's one less potential "PAYBACK OFFER SHEET TARGET" for if the Flyers threw a sheet at Alex Pietrangelo

Must give Holmer credit for resigning Coots at this salary cap hit.
Not sure he will ever be offensive force people are hoping for and expecting.
Not sure this ends the rumors of Coots being trade bait.
His signing helps other teams looking for a low cost defensive centerman.
I would think this could even increase his trade value after the last poor season.

I am wondering if this means they intend to trade Coots now.
That they think Laughton has as much potential as Coots, defensively.
And that Schenn and Laughton are the future and Coots is now available.

Schenn is a winger. People need to learn that now and accept it. Whether he would have hit his stride offensively as a center, we will likely never know. I've been preaching for a while that he should be a winger, and that's where he will be. I think it suits him.

Couturier will be our 2nd line center whenever he wins the job from Lecavalier.

Laughton will be worked in or traded somehow. I have a feeling that they're going to be EXTREMELY patient with Laughton now...

Back to the OHL for a year. Then possibly AHL for a year. Definitely 4th line for a year.

We'll see what has transpired with the Couturier vs. Lecavalier as a 2nd line center by then.

I have no earthly idea how a contract extension like this makes you think he's available.
