Browsing capgeek, it's kind of amazing how Nashville has built their budget around Weber's contract. The salaries for Hornqvist, Cullen, Stalberg, Nystrom, Wilson, Bourque, Josi and Bartley are all backloaded to compensate for Weber. This could create some trade opportunities for big market teams like Montreal in a year or two, to take on more salary than cap hit.

Upon hearing what Gagner wants, I can't help but think about what the conversation must be like between him and his agent.

SG: "You know what I want to hear from you, right?
Agent: "Please, Sam. Don't make me say it."
SG: "You want to remain my agent."
Agent: "Well yes, but..."
SG: "Lemme hear you say it then."
Agent: "Ugh... show me the money."
SG: "LOUDER, MAN! Lemme hear you FEEL IT!"
Agent: "SHOW ME THE MONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!"

Luongo has better accomplishement too, last goalie to win the olympics goal in 2010 with canada.

Unless stats means nothing and people have seen all games of those two goaltender, deeply analyzed all their goal allowed and made the conclusion with their deep goalie knowledge that Price was a far superior goalie than Luongo, and that they wasn't even a place for discussion about it.

Price might still have the potential to become a better goalie than Luongo, but what's matter for right now is the current product. Price hasn't done a thing to prove he is better than Luongo right now, and I'm not even a Luongo fan. Didn't made sense last year, in march 2013 or right now to consider him a ''lock'' to start. Sure, he is going to get and invite, like 4-5 other goalies, but he will have to prove he deserve to be the starter by having a strong season next year, better than his competition, and a solid Sotchi camp, and it's always been the case.
Nobody is saying Luongo is a bad goalie. You asked me what made Price a lock over Roberto... well, Luongo not having the starter's job is a very good reason.

Right now? It's open. I'm sure both guys will get an invite. And it would be interesting to see Schneider there too.

The starter will be Luongo, until proven otherwise during the tournament. This has always been Canada's policy.

Whoops didn't know that. Guess he'll be trying to knock off Quick for the job over there then.

Some reason I was under the impression arbitration picks one or the other.

Pfffft, all we have to do is get Jason Missiaen in net and get Darren Pang to cover his five hole for him

They're from terrible sources is my bet, so you should really ask; why are you still following those sources ?

I doubt he sees any time in net with Miller and Quick above him on the depth chart.

I wouldn't even put his chances to even make the team that high personally.

Revisiting the Team Canada goalie debate from a couple of pages back, some of this "Price is a lock, Crawford/Luongo/Smith can barely feed themselves" stuff is embarrassing. Please don't take it outside the Habs' board, for the sake of the rest of us...

Gagne gets $4.8M per for 3 years.

That is brutal...never a 50pt season or 20 goals. Overpaid by a cool $1M.

Meh, he is always on pace to break 50 points and just never gets a full season in. Overpaid a bit but contracts have been going up every year. I figured he would get around 4.25

It's contracts like these that make Desharnais' contract a bit more acceptable.

If you took that 1 game where he had 9 points (??) his numbers would have been even worse. That game made him an few extra million on his contract.
