Pretty sure Calgary would rather keep Giordano than move him for a couple prospects and a pick, especially without a decent defensive prospect coming back.

The prospects coming in return are simply too small for my liking. We already have our Baertschi's, Gaudreau's, and Cundari's.

Enticing offer but not sure Calgary "fans" would make the trade. Getting a shot a two center prospects with good upside may be of interest to a team that is finally rebuilding but the question would be are the Avs open to trading their top 2 forward prospects (outside of Mac) with Stastny an upcoming UFA and questions surrounding O'Reilly and his long term future. After Hishon and Sgar, they have a steep drop in talent and/or question marks at forward. Perhaps something would work better with the Avs taking Gio & the disgruntled Cammalleri for a slightly different package.

Pass. I'd need one of Siemens/Barrie/Elliott coming back to send Gio to the Avs.

As an Avalanche fan, I don't have to think twice before accepting. Hishon, while highly skilled, is not only small, but has an extensive and severe injury history. Sgarbossa looks promising, but I see him as an average second or solid third line player. A lot of risk for Calgary in this one.

At the very least I expect a Bouwmeester return, I really don't think Giordano will be moved though

Highly doubt Calgary would make this trade. As much as I would love the trade to be made it ain't happening.

Something like this seems a bit more likely to me, but still can't see Calgary do this if their GM's goal is still to try for the playoffs this year.

Would need a return more like Bouwmeester had even if Gio isn't as good as Bouw he's not far back and is still seen as a corner stone moving forward with a better contract.

I'd counter

1st 2014
Mike Connolly / Chris Bigras
Will Butcher / Colin Smith

That said Colorado likely doesn't see the playoffs as a sure thing for 2 years so doubt they move a 1st round pick for 1 piece of the puzzle insta-rejected; but I think that would be the minimum to move Gio out of Calgary.

Connolly/Bigras and Butcher/Smith have nowhere the same value, but I assume this would be closer to a deadline deal. If Gio played like he did last year, I don't see him garnering this return (roommate was a Flames fan and ragged on Gio almost every game). However, if he comes back to form I don't see any problem with it, as long as the Avs were in the playoff hunt (which is a tossup IMO).

Even given their GM, doubt Calgary would do that. From Colorado's perspective, yes that's an easy one.

How about no.

If Gio is dealt it will be for 1 big piece and some fillers, not 3 OK pieces..

The Leafs would have a lot of interest in Gio if he's available, as we really need a defender in that mould. We could offer a solid package of prospects, but would likely have to include Liles in the deal to make things work out cap-wise.

To Calgary:

Liles + Matt Finn + Brad Ross/Greg Mckegg

To Toronto:

Mark Giordano

We wouldn't be willing to move our 1st round pick right now, unless it is top-5 protected. If at the deadline we're looking destined for the playoffs, we might consider offering Liles + 1st + throw-in prospect if the Flames would prefer that.

Pass. Liles really doesn't do anything for us in the long term. I wouldn't mind having Matt Finn, but not at this cost.

Flames won't move Gio until the deadline anyway so I wouldn't worry about that.

1st + Liles + Mckegg might be interesting...id try and get 1st + Finn for him, I think that would be a good deal for both teams.

Feaster would want Hishon so that he could whisper sweet nothings into Radar's ear until Ryan relents and lets Feaster can accomplish his goal of paying Radar more money than any other player in the NHL!
