Told Sam Gagner has asked for $5.5 in arbitration.
Will they use Jordan Staal's production as a comparable?

Staal has what about a 48 point pace over his career compared to 51 for Gagner?

Staal got 6 per.

Staal spent most of his career playing behind Crosby and Malkin, but Gagner spent his playing behind/with/in front of no one.

The New York Rangers are the most valuable NHL franchise at $1.2 billion, taking the top spot on the Forbes list for the first time since 2004.

The magazine said Tuesday that Montreal is second at $1.18 billion, followed by Toronto at $1.15 billion.

If the Kings are so great then why do they only have one Stanley Cup? And why did it take almost 40 years since their inception to finally win it?

Tired of these cocky King's fans....

Questionable division names. Unbalanced conferences with unfair playoff chances. Some big U.S. markets with teams on life support (and they really don't care!). Ridiculous contracts still being doled out (what lockout!?). Overdoing of the outdoor game thing. Nearly eliminating all traditional elements of the game. Keep up the 'great' work Bettman and the Board of Governors. I can't wait for the Olympics.

How about giving something back to the fans for the lockout. There should have been an open poll to allow the fans of the teams to choose the names of the divisions.

It makes sense doesn't it?

Hopefully Fox can bring back tracking the puck again to make it all better.

Also Jordan Staal's a Selke and Calder finalist and Cup winner.

Has a Selke winner ever been from a bottom feeder? If Jordan was playing on the Leafs over the past 6 years would he have received a sniff for anything?

Using your logic, maybe Edmonton is a bottom feeder because Sam Gagner is a top six centre on their team?

Certainly is possible. Gagner is 23 years old and has over 400 regular season games whereas Kadri is 22 and has 99.

Staal is 24 and has played behind Crosby, Malkin and Eric for his career. Staal has played well at times, but he's never had to carry anything except the pucks for practice.

Therefore, Kadri should receive less than half of what Gagner got

Kadri should get approx 3.5 per on a 2 year deal.

Give me a break. Carlyle used the Leafs roster to the best of it's ability. Much better than Rotten Ronnie did. I think he did an oustanding job and the team believed in themselves. At times or points in the season, certain players need to step up and fill a void, or they are just so "hot" at that point that they get bumped up in the line up.

And the whole Lupul in Anaheim misusage is a joke. The kid had a blood infection and the Ducks had guys like Selanne, Koivu, Getz, Perry, etc etc in the top six.... but you are right..erhmagad he misued lupul in anaheim.

Carlyle told Anaheim's management when they traded Lupul that he was going to come back and bite them in the behind. That's an actual fact.

But sure - the embarassing Maple Leafs Arm Chair GMs know better than Carlyle. It's also embarassing to claim Carlyle misused players that were under/over performing. It makes us look so dumb to the rest of the hockey world. But alas, here we go again...

He's played 6 weeks of nhl hockey since he's been drafted, never saw him the last two weeks of the season or the playoffs. Any thing over 1.8 is over payment and any thing more than one year is inappropriate, he simply hasn't earned it.

Not sure what thread to ask this so I will ask it here...

I am a Bruin's fan . My daughter (who lives in California) told me she will take me to a B's vs Leaf's game Dec 8th. for my birthday.

We usually meet somewhere for one away game a year. I have always wanted to go to Toronto to see a game and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

I have ST in Boston next to the B's bench. Of all of the visiting fans from different teams the Leaf fans are some of the coolest. They know their hockey and are friendly. (unlike some Flyer and Hab fans ) .

I understand getting seats in Toronto can be difficult. We would like to try and sit near the B's.

Any idea when the tickets will go on sale ? What section is near the visitor's bench ?

Can anyone suggest good hotels near the arena ?

Thanks much

Well he should get more than 1.8 but I agree with everything else. Not sure why people are so determined to want to give him 4 million after 1 season. Generally, the same people who complain about Nonis giving out bad contacts.

@Ladyfan I don't think a lot of people post here much often in the offseason.

I think ACC1224 is a STH and you can PM him or just make a thread about it.

I was thinking the same thing. People don't post here very often, and if you make a thread It'll probably be moved to the Leaf Lounge. So maybe try there?

Gillis didn't 'choose' to go with Luongo... He had no choice but to go with Luongo, because nobody would take that contract.

They HAD to choose him. What an awful GM.

Gillis is pathetic. He's only drafted one NHLer in five years. The team that Burke and Nonis built for him, he's slowly been diminishing.

No because a Selke winner makes the team better thus they probably wouldn't be bottom feeders.

An in a connected story he's signed Colin Stuart and Zach Hamill. Way to go Mike, continue to show the fans of your organization the reasons why you should be given your walking papers. lol

Gillis has been my least favourite GM for a while now.

Being an agent previously, I feel like he carries too much of those "agent" personality traits with him, always seeing things in a numbers kind of way and always thinking about how he can screw over another party.

He's a pompous arrogant ass, and he gets way too much credit for 'building a team' where the major pieces were acquired by Burke and Nonis.

That's why I always thought it was hilarious when Canucks fans would tell us how Gillis is such an amazing GM and better than Burke or Nonis because he brought in sleep doctors for the team

He's good at re-signing players not named Luongo, but that's where it ends.
