You're just chasing your tail. Jagr just finished playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Obviously, he wants to continue his career here, not in the KHL.

Not sure what anyone's chasing. lol I guess nobody wants him at this point if his only option is the Devils.

was watching highlights from 12/27/10 7-2W against the fishsticks and a few other games around that time and we scored quite a few goals with quick one timers or just half ass one timers.

Sam Gagner has an arbitration hearing this morning at 9am. Gagner requested $5.5M. Edmonton submitted $3.5M. Gagner is one year away from group III. Gagner can only get a one year award if there is no settlement because he is one year away from group III.

Stepan
Pietroangelo

Hodgson
Paajarvi
Cowen
Tanev
Henrique
Johansson
Wiercioch
Allen

Henrique is the only player reportedly close to re-signing.

Nice number for Stepan's agent to negotiate with. Gagner is a lesser player than Stepan.

Gagner's contract includes 1 arbitration year and 2 UFA years. It's also his 4th contract. Not really a comparable at all.

Sam Gagner started his NHL career at 18. 7 years would have taken him to 25 and group III.

RFA year at $4.4 M and UFA years come in at $5M. Any doubts now Gagner wants to stay in EDM rather than just getting every cent he can?

It is for any arbitration/UFA years Sather wants to buy out.

I would be quite happy with 5 for UFA years. Very happy, in fact.

Stepan's last arbitration year (which is the one included in Gagner's deal) will most likely cost more than his 1st or 2nd arbitration years. If Gorton is offering him a 3 year deal, it really isn't comparable at all.

If the Rangers are offering a 6 year deal, then yeah, they can compare the last 3 years of the deal to Gagner's deal. But at this point, I seriously doubt a 6 year deal is on the table.

Well, I guess not in a 3 year deal case. I was hoping for a longer term deal in any case.

And even though his 3rd arbitration year will cost more, it can still be used a starting point. Something like 3.8, 4.1 for the earlier two and ~2.7-2.8 for the nonarbitration year.

I'd rather have a 4 mil 5 year contract (2.7, 3.8, 4.1, 4.4, 5) or 4.2 for 6 years (2.7, 3.8, 4.1, 4.4, 5, 5.2) than a 3 year deal for ~3.5. He'll likely get a bit more than Gagner so those numbers will probably go up, but I'd rather give him a longer deal now.

I doubt they commit as much as McDonagh, but I'm hoping their preferred years in order are 5,3,2.

This is what happens when Sather low balls the team's established #1 center.

Granted, it was mostly Michael's fault, and he payed later on for it. But still.

Not sure "but still" is much of a point here. Nylander should've never been re-signed at the price he wound up getting....on an open market.

Gagners contract looks like this after his initial 3 year ELC

Bridge contact years #4 + #5 = $2,275,000
Bridge deal number 2 for RFA year #6 = $3,200,000
4 year contract RFA year #7 + 3 years of UFA = $4,800,000

Gagners numbers were as follows on Years #1 - 3 on his ELC:
223 GP - 44 goals - 87 assists = 131 points 0,58 PPG

Stepans numbers were as follows on Years #1 - 3 on his ELC
212 GP - 56 goals - 84 assists = 140 points 0,66 PPG

Thereafter Gagner put up these points year #4 + #5:
143 GP - 33 goals - 56 assists = 89 points 0,62 PPG

Year #6 on the ELC (preceding this newly signed $4,8M contract) Gagners numbers were:
48 GP - 14 goals - 24 assists = 38 points 0,79 PPG

Stepan is better defensively than Gagner, who otoh has been getting a lot of 3rd line minutes throughout his career on a bottomfeeder on the Alberta plains.
Gagner - when looking at pedigree - otoh was a #6 overall pick in 2007 (Stepan a 2nd rounder at #51 in 2008) that debuted in the NHL barely an adult at the mere age of 18 years of age. Stepans debut was first as an NHL pro at 20 years of age (2 years after Gagner).
Stepan should get a salary (depending on years of course) between what Gagner got (plus inflation) and Matt Duchene. Plain & simple...

What is with these players who have never even hit 50 points asking and getting stupid money?

Two things. Bryan Little has scored at a 50 point pace in each of the last 3 seasons and 4 out of the last 5. He is the very definition of a 50 point player.

Second, in what world is $5.5m stupid money for someone who puts up legitimate 2nd line numbers consistently?

"on pace" is used alot... He's scored 51 points since he's been in the NHL.. That does not make him a legit 50 point player until he does it more than once.. If you want to call him a 45+ point player fine, but 45 points is worth 5.5M cap hit? If that is the case, why are people whining about Richards making 6.6M (Cap hit), when he was "on pace" for a 60 point season despite being horrible? Not to mention people think he was "horrible for the money" his first season when he had almost 70 points.
