I think it's appropriate to restart the Jagr news...unless CS you don't want to.

JAGR to Jersey...from Pierre Lebrun.

No, it's fine. It's big Out of Town news. Just sucked that it came right at the tail end of the last edition of this thread.

Max Pacioretty's cap hit keeps looking better and better all the time when you see inferior players like Gagner signing for more..

Yeah, we got a hell of a deal on MaxPac. He gets 5.5 - 6 on any other team. Too bad Price and Gorges didn't take a discount to help the team too. Price at 6.5 and Gorges 3.9 is just dumb.

The thing about the Gagner contract, the Oilers are buying two very young UFA years, Gagner's 25 and 26 year old seasons. This is a unique situation, there aren't any real comparables to use. I can see how the Oilers were in a tough spot here, IMO they pretty much had to get a multi-year deal done before arbitration.

I like Grabovski, but he's 29 years old. For Edmonton's situation Gagner is a better fit.

People also forget; Pacioretty took a hometown discount because he wanted to play in Montreal. Gagner went for the most dollar amount he could earn.
