lol Crosby and Giroux on the same line that should be interesting. I think St-louis gets a shot to play with Stammer instead of Richards.

I keep seeing Nash as a lock on every lineup...is he really?

Doughty, Hamhuis and Subban are all legit choices. I'm not mad if he's left off.
Doughty is a lock.

I mean Nail Yakupov got a shot with Russia and there forward depth is high so yea i expect USA to invite Galchenyuk, he did play for them at the u18 i think and won a gold medal.

Looks great except for Thornton in for Getlaf. I don't think Big Joe makes the team this year.

Also, ZERO chance of Phaneuf making the team.

It would be great experience for him if he makes the evaluation camp, that's for sure.

The D is tough, just because there's so much more quality on the right side, and those dmen aren't used to playing on the left. I'd much rather have Boyle & Seabrook than Phaneuf & Staal, but not sure how they'd adapt on their off sides... will be interesting to see how TC handles this.

I'm a big Thornton fan, I think he's much better than his reputation. He was incredible in last season's playoffs. I understand that I'm swimming against the tide of popular opinion with that pick though

Why does Thornton keep getting an invite? He was awful last time, he's old and he's a choker. The fact he's there, instead of Spezza and Benn, is ridiculous.

I have a feeling Seguin will force himself on the team now that he's going to be a go-to guy. His speed will also be a killer on the international ice.

I doubt Galchenyuk doesn't get an invite considering USA's Center depth.

I know this is probably gonna p*ss off Leaf fans everywhere, but if Dion Phaneuf makes this team, Canada seriously needs to re-evaluate it's priorities on D...Phaneuf is already a defensive liability because of his mobility, imagine on the big ice how many times opposing forwards would just fly by him with a wave and a grin...makes me sad just thinking about it...

Question is....what's in Team Canada's eyes, Subban's strength. If it's offense and most of the guys we already have on our top 4 can do his job....they might want to go "safer" bottom 2. Might even consider more PK specialists than PP's.

I'd rather have Thornton on the team than Spezza.

And let's be serious here, Spezza didn't even play last season.

I could see Galchenyuk getting a look at. He did win gold at the juniors, and did win the shootout in the worlds to get bronze for USA.

What ever it is, Subban>Letang in every categorie.

Keith-Seabrook
Hamius-Subban
Doughty-Weber
Letang

We saw Hamius-Subban duo at the WC in 2012. Before he got injured..

That's what WE think. That's what we and clearly I TOTALLY believe. Ask Pens fans now.....Yet, there's no need to ask as there's a hatred bias towards him so you have to think that those professionnals running Team Canada think like we think.

I just asked Chris Peters (Team USA specialist) about Galchenyuk, and he thinks he's got a shot.

@chrismpeters
@Dr_Habs Yes. I think he'll be in the camp and will have a good shot.

@chrismpeters I don't see him as a bottom 6 player, but he's not quite a top 6 player either. His talent in the shootouts might be his ace.

@Dr_Habs Yeah, I'm with you, though I think if the team goes with more of a top-nine, fourth line situation, there could be room.

I see the logic on your way of thinking on defense. I have to say that a guy like Seabrook on his wrong side is still better than Phaneuf on his correct side. I don't see how you can leave that much talent behind to have a natural lefty on who is far inferior.

As for Thornton, I can see he's a sentimental pick and I won't hold that against you

Otherwise, like I said, great looking lineup!

Go Can Go!

With the size of an international ice rink, Team Canada would be stupid not to take Subban

I think Price makes the team. Can't see Smith and Holtby beating him out for the spot. He'll have to beat out Crawford in camp/in exhibition to dress on opening night though.

Look at how many times Thornton has represented Canada in the past. He's going to get invites for the rest of his career with the dues he's paid. Hockey Canada values loyalty and experience over almost anything else.

Whether he deserves to make the team or not is a whole other thing though.

I wouldn't want either on the team to be honest, but Spezza is easily the better player. Younger, more productive, better at faceoffs and he actually shoots.

I didn't think the Russians would invite a player of Emelin's style.

Eventually they got to get fed up of being destroyed physically in those major tournaments
