I picture Canada's top six like this:

Stamkos-Crosby-St Louis
Hall-Tavares-Giroux

Pretty nasty if you ask me

The Russian posters don't seem happy with their defense and a couple of them are wondering why Belov wasn't selected. That could be a good omen for the Oilers.

Hall and Ebs are both iffy to make it. 25 F's invited to camp - many of which played on the Gold-winning team of a few years ago.

Patrice Bergeron, Jeff Carter, Logan Couture, Sidney Crosby, Matt Duchene, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Getzlaf, Claude Giroux, Taylor Hall, Chris Kunitz, Andrew Ladd, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Rick Nash, James Neal, Corey Perry, Mike Richards, Patrick Sharp, Eric Staal, Jordan Staal, Martin St. Louis, Steven Stamkos, John Tavares, Joe Thornton, Jonathan Toews.

I see Couture/Duchene getting in before Hall/Ebs - just because they're C's that can win draws in case of injuries.

you have absolutely no clue about how Russian NT is currently run.

There is going to be like a million centres on Team Canada, I highly doubt they are worried about having to take face offs in case of injury. i think it would be good to have some natural wingers at least

Ouch. Didn't know a North American poster throwing together a mock lineup praising the Russians would get you so worked up.

Canada could use someone speedy and rambunctious like Hall on the international ice. I think a lot of their F's will be exposed without that kind of athleticism present in the lineup.

Duchene making Team Canada would be a damn shame. Some people might disagree with me after his playoff performance but Thornton belongs nowhere near the team at this stage. He looked old, slow and ineffective during the last Olympics on the North American ice; I can't even begin to imagine how bad he'd look on the big ice.

My prediction:

Hall-Crosby-Giroux
Tavares-Stamkos-St.Louis
Nash-Toews-Richards

Those are the only locks IMO. The 4th line could really be anything, but here are the 5 players I think will be chosen for the remaining spots.

Bergeron
Carter
Getzlaf
Sharp/Eberle depending on who is playing better during the season.
E.Staal

Keith-Seabrook
Hamhuis-Weber
Pietrangelo-Subban
Bouwmeester-Doughty

Luongo
Price
Crawford

I remember Yzerman stating in 2010 that he wanted as many players playing in their natural positions as possible. He ended up picking 7 centres out of 13 forwards so there was only 2 centres playing on the wing at any time. I imagine he'll do the same thing this year.

Nash-Toews-Richards was by far our best line in 2010, which is the reason for now I'd keep them together. It's not like Nash has regressed and if that line can play even half as good as they did in 2010, we'll be fine.

Fair point. I haven't liked his NHL game for a while now but he seems to do well on the big ice whenever he plays in tournaments.

I can't stand Rick Nash - but the body of work he's compiled for Team Canada stands for itself.

Interesting that Mozyakin, Kulikov, Svitov, Belov all left off of Russia's roster. Same with Bryzgalov.

I don't like his or Eric Staal's games for the big ice either, but I think Nash is more of a lock than most for this team. I would like to see some more speed instead of them both.

Ladd would be a good fit instead of Staal for example.

Thornton won't make the team. He's evolved into a leader and overall great player, good on faceoffs and D, but he's too slow for the big ice now.

Some of you have Hall as the 1LW and I'm not buying it yet.

You'd think Nash wouldn't make the team but I agree he seems to play better internationally.

Bergeron is a lock.

The reason I have him there is because I'd rather Stamkos play at C than wing. The top 6 is interchangeable and could easily be:

Tavares-Crosby-Giroux
Hall-Stamkos-St.Louis

And yes Bergeron is the 4C lock, definitely.

This is a misnomer. Thornton is still an excellent skater with more than enough speed & power to make the team as a depth player. I think he will be there.
