As a weird aside, it only kicks in in Year 2, and goes away in Year 3.

I wonder if he can get what the Stars got (Conditional 2nd that became a 1st because Boston made it to the ECFs & a prospect)?

If so, that's worth it.

Even a 2nd and a mid-level prospect might be worth it for what Jagr showed, especially for a team looking for that elusive secondary scoring vet. He was a handful to defend often enough in the playoffs, far more than his final goal total belies.

I cracked up at one of the blog posts that said NJ moved quickly to replace Kovy in signing Jagr.

It will be interesting to see what Lou has up his sleeve to try and replace Kovy long term.

is this an insinuation that Ruff is going to be so successful in Dallas that we are going to miss him?

I liked Jochen quite a bit more than most, but I think we'll be fine without him in 3 years.

Speaking of Franson as another possible casualty due to spending big on Clarkson and Bozak?

It wouldn't surprise if he's wanting Yandle money and the Leafs are offering around what they gave Gunnersson.

I think that's a pretty good ball park of what is probably going on.

i just learned that Toronto retained salary for Scrivens and Frattin (total 500k)

they are in a bit of a pickle with Kadri and Franson and only 6 mil in space

Pretty sure Dave Nonis posts on HFBoards as the 20 Sabres "fans" who don't understand why teams can't take on Thomas Vanek's salary right now. Did the guy completely forget he had RFAs to sign?

They're going to wish they could buyout Liles next year and in a few years wish they could buy out Lupul. Guaranteed.

It's amazing that the Leafs have the 11th most available cap space of the 30 teams. 19 others have less free than they do, including three or four who are over.

And that's with the compliance buyouts being thrown around left and right during the buyout window. Fools and their money, as the saying goes...

11th most until "The Naz" and his agent decide they don't want to sign a bridge contract.

I started laughing at this post until I realized he scored 29 points this season. I don't think I remember a single one of them.

3-3-6 in the playoffs too.

He's got some leverage.
