I raised my concerns with my rep about not only price but downgrading in future years. I told him I really wanted to get my foot in the door so asked about singles, but none were available. The next morning, I wrote an e-mail asking if I purchased both halves of the season in half season plans w the markup if I could get STH rights. He called me and told me unfortunately that wasn't an option, but he would really try to get me a good half season plan, and that all of his customers that had half seasons last year got season tix this year, so I would be set up nicely for next year by buying a half plan. He called me back later that morning- a pair of row 2 galleries were available, and I immediately took them.

I chalk this up to luck, and to developing a good relationship with him. I called and emailed pretty often. I also used my work email for my account so he asked if my company would be interested in buying a summer intern event (WNBA game package), and I told him I would run it by the people upstairs and circulate it to friends at other companies. I don't think anyone ever bought it, but maybe he just appreciated the effort. Even at the point when he told me only the 1st row seats were available, I had nothing but good things to say about him. He was always super responsive, courteous, and just a friendly guy. I think he bumped me to the top of his list for my level (mini plan last year w a deposit down), based on our relationship.

My advice is to try to make some sort of connection with your rep. I didn't even start with this guy. The guy I started with got a promotion and was transferred, but I think he would have helped me as we'll bc we chatted for a while and it turns out we went to the same high school and just missed each other, as we graduated 4 years apart. Any sort of connection can help.
Sometimes a good attitude and dealing with the right person...or at least the right person on the right day, can help. What section did you end up in?

202. I would have taken any row 2 gallery seats and been ecstatic to get them.

No doubt. Welcome to the Gallery club! The best seats in MSG, all things considered.

are the $100 single seats in row 2 in the 200's worth getting for resale and to get your foot through the door?

This happened to us last year. Unfortunately this tactic didn't work with the rep we had this year.

Yes! The only problem the last year or two is that upper bowl seats are almost like gold and it is getting harder to move around and the discourage STH,s from downgrading. Since the waiting list has grown the Rangers have little incentive to accommodate downgrading.

hmm i think they got swooped up quick. vstk your rep didn't call you and tell you about anything? my rep had emailed me and called yesterday morning that they had 3 different ones available..but i wound up turning it down, i took a section 211 row 19 a few days ago instead at $56 which was a no brainer for me. but yeah she said in the email it was 209, 213 and 226 row 2.

ah i gotcha, i mean i didn't write before that i wound up just taking a single in 211 row 19, and hopefully next year i'd upgrade and add a seat. honestly was just looking to take anything in the upper bowl non 1st row gallery.

and this forum has been helpful so far, read this whole thread before i had spoken to my rep about getting tickets, i honestly would've never even considered a single seat before reading everyone's posts.

They should learn a lesson from the Yankees. They thought they could do anything to the STHs when there were plenty of new customers to replace them. Now those new customers are gone and they literally were reduced to begging the lost STHs to come back.

Will be calling someone, just don't want to deal with the same rep again. Tried calling and sent an e-mail to another rep.

Had zero contact with the rep while relocating/renewing, only got the generic system generated e-mail about the renewal date
Cheers

Blue seats are not the farthest from the ice, in fact the blue seat corner sections are fairly close. I would say that high rows in the 200's center ice are much furthur away.

Asked to speak with a manager 2 days ago and called again yesterday. Haven't heard anything back.
I feel like Elaine in the Seinfeld episode when they wrote "difficult" on her chart and no doctor wanted to see her.
The MSG lady answering my call said "let me take a look at your file", and then "mmm ok we will get back to you" x)

That's funny, because i emailed my rep yesterday asking if any info on priority or pricing is ready. Here is what I received today:

,

We haven't received information about the tickets for the Outdoor games yet. From my understanding it should be similar to the Winter Classic where season ticket holders get priority over the public. I will add you to my list of season ticket holders interested in tickets and when we get any information I will pass it along.

Best,
XXX

Regarding the Yankee Stadium emails....

1) I wonder if you can get the same number of seats you have at the Garden (or more?).

2) I know when it's my turn to buy, I'm going to be disgusted with how much they are, and how little my options will be seating wise.

Haha, amazing. My rep emails me that the do not have info and then I get the same as you did. If I worked there, I would be really annoyed with how they do things. Makes it seem like my rep has no idea what is going on. I know it is not her fault.

For the Winter Classic they originally offered each account(I have 6 seats) only 2 seats. A week prior to the event they released more tickets for STHs

It will likely be the same. I turned down my tickets for the Winter Classic. Wasn't paying $200 per ticket to sit in the lower deck and have to watch the game on a tv from 600 feet away. I know the guy who sits to my right also turned down the tickets. Those were then most likely offered to season ticket holders.
