From the Orientation Camp, this would be my roster (if chosen today).

Forwards:

John Tavares - Sidney Crosby - Steven Stamkos
Rick Nash - Jonathan Toews - Corey Perry
Taylor Hall - Claude Giroux - Logan Courture
Jordan Staal - Patrice Bergeron - Michael Richards
Eric Staal

Defence:

Duncan Keith - Drew Doughty
Dan Hamhuis - Shea Weber
Jay Bouwmeester - PK Subban
Alex Pietrangelo

Goaltenders:

Roberto Luongo
Carey Price
Corey Crawford

I'm surprised Benn is not there. I would probably choose him to be on the roster.

Timmins did well.
Yeah, but if we have McDonagh, it's very unlikely that we are in a position to draft Galchenyuk.
I would personally take a potential franchise #1 center over a very solid #2 shutdown d anyday of the week.

Subban developing the way he did helps a lot too.

Giroux-Crosby-Nash
Tavares-Stamkos-St.Louis
E.Staal-Toews-Eberle
Getzlaf-Bergeron-Perry
Couture, Thorn

Keith-Seabrook
Letang-Subban
Doughty-Weber
Pietr

Luongo
Crawford
Price

I know that St. Louis and Eberle are maybe a push, but one has proven that he his still able to be a beast at like 93 years old + adds leadership. Eberle = jr team canada vs jr team russia ... It's my risky clutchy choice

And for defense.. All our best D's are righty so makes it hard

Overall I prefer a skilled team vs a gritty team, especially with the big ice, thats why Richards, Kunitz, Lucic, etc. we're left out

Giroux-Crosby-Hall
Tavares-Stamkos-St Louis
Toews-Bergeron-Couture
Perry-Getzlaf-Nash
Staal, Eberle

Doughty-Weber
Seabrook-Keith
Pietrangelo-Subban
Staal-Letang

Luongo
Price
Crawford

I think Taylor Hall takes the next step this year (if he hasn't already) and compliments those other two guys on the top line pretty well.

I don't understand why people choose Eberle just because of the "clutch factor"

Almost every player on Team Canada is basically clutch, if they weren't, they wouldn't be the superstars they are today. Guys like Crosby, Toews, Bergeron, Subban, Tavares, Seabrook are all clutch.

People needs to stop saying that.....Seriously. Yes, and if we don't draft Subban, Price and Galchenyuk, we might be in a position to draft McDavid in 2 years. Come on....There are no need indication that McDonagh would have transormed us into a top 10 team. Nobody could have turned the seasan we had differently. Subban wasn't even able to. Plekanec wasn't able to. Price wasn't. Why would McDonagh be able?

Price has some work to do to prove he belongs there, especially after last season. Don't be mad at the 'bringer of truth.'

Go back and look at how close those standings were. We don't need to be a top 10 team to miss Galchenyuk, a player who should have arguably gone 1st overall. We got lucky enough to grab him at #3. It was already an anomaly that our team finished that low when while they weren't incredibly good, they weren't nearly as bad as their standing would have us believe. Subtracting the mess that is Scott Gomez and putting Mcdonagh and even Higgins back into the mix earns us at least another point, IMO.

But it's not as simple as subtracting galchenyuk and adding mcdonagh back to our depth chart. It's more a case of Mcdonagh + Rielly/Lindholm/Reinhart vs. Galchenyuk.

Yes, but then the situation becomes totally subjective and totally unpredictable as keeping McDonagh means doing what with Koivu, or do we trade Subban instead because we love McDonagh so much and then acquire an incredible centerman or a package so incredible that it makes us winning the Cup and who will care about Galchenyuk at this point. My point is that people are seriously using this stupid trade almost to say that it was good 'cause in the end we got Galchenyuk. Fine....trade Subban, Price and Plekanec for Brian McGrattan. Then, we might have the next 2 #1 picks for the next 2 years......It's totally dumb to say that BY LUCK we got rid of McDonagh as we would not have gotten Galchenyuk....We also missed on Huberdeau, on Taylor Hall and tons of other and nobody says that we should have drafted our players for nothing in order to get them.

I mean, let's just pretend we keep him. And we progress and we have one of the best young d-men squad in the league....who really would have mentioned "Sucks that we still have him as not having him would have meant getting our hands on Galchenyuk".....I mean, I keep being reminded, with good reasons, to never have an opinion on hindsight....that McDonagh vs Galchenyuk comparison bleeds hindsight...

I thought Markov was amongst the worst defensemans in the league last season, look like the russian team don't think so, if he's invited to the Olympics in Russia , good move on them to get Emelin to play against canadians and americans.

Weird to see the canadian defense without Pronger and Niedermayer.

Congrats to all habs players that are invited.

Especially Niedermayer for me...such a key player. Type of player that when he was on the ice, you were just so sure he'd be making the right play.

Hey guys, how do you think Galchenyuk's chances of making team USA in 2014 in Sochi?

Yeah, I was such a fans of thoses two, Subban should watch tons of tapes of Niedermayer, he got the skating and talent to be the next Niedermayer.

Continue his to improve his defensive play while scoring at 0,7+ ppg and having a good camp will do it IMO.

This could have happened: We trade Higgins, Weber, Valentenko for Gomez + Pyatt.

McDonough playing limited time or in the AHL so have limited impact on our team ranking, thus we still finish 3rd last. We pick galchenyuk

McDo PK
Tinordi Bolio
Diaz Emelin

Cup

He's going to have competition with the likes of:
David Backes
Dustin Brown
Ryan Callahan
Patrick Kane
Ryan Kesler
Phil Kessel
Max Pacioretty
Bobby Ryan
T.J Oshie
Paul Stastny
Blake Wheeler
JVR
Joe Pavelski

That all have a better reputation/season than him this past year or their entire careers. It Will be interesting to see, since there will be some injures, but only 12 can play so.. My Guess is he doesn't make it, but we will see.

There is also other players that I didn't mention because I feel Galchenyuk is better, but they might aswell beat him to it.

(EDIT): That actually makes 13 players, meaning Galchenyuk would just miss it, but since 1 of them will be injured ATLEAST, he might get a pretty sweet shot at it, but he's going to have to compete with the others.

(Justin Abdelkader,Beau Bennet,Nick Bjudgstad, Trevor Lewis, Kyle Palmieri, Brandon Saad, Craig Smith, Derek Stepan, Kyle Okposo)

I would say his chances are 50/50
