I bet back from three weeks in the wilderness excited to see our moves...and immediately want to crawl back.

Jones at 4 sucks, but it's the best we could do. Stalberg? Cool. But the Hendricks, Cullen, and Nystrom signings...no thanks. The money sucks, but the term is that kills me.

Can someone explain what is going on?

FWIW, I did some research on salaries and Cullen and Stalberg were right on the money. Nystrom and Hendricks are overpaid by about $1 million apiece. It is what it is.

The $$$ isn't what I'm mad about, it's the term. We lose a ton of flexibility to get a few 4th liners. Just very disappointing. If those were all 1-2 years, I wouldn't mind.

Also, Blum to MIN makes me sick to my stomach, mostly because we lost him and Hali for nothing and partially because I think he turns it around.

the cap will go back up and apparently we now have the ability to spend money. we have plenty of flexibility.

im as disappointed as anyone that we didnt get a franchise forward in the draft but Jones is one hell of a consolation prize.

this is easily the best summer we Preds fans have had since the fire sale... i think that is lost on a lot of people

A blind monkey with a hand tied behind its back could have picked Jones at 4. Great to have, but not going Poile a huge plus there.

If bringing in a fringe #2/3 who was scratched in the playoffs, along with overpaying some 4th liners and getting a backup with no NHL experience and losing two young players with potential for absolutely nothing is our best offseason in 5 or 6 years, we have a problem.

put whatever spin on it you want, but the fact is we arent in danger of moving, and we arent losing any of our main players (or taking them to arbitration), we had the highest draft pick we've had since year 1, and even if it was a no-brainer, we ended up with possibly the best player in the draft. If we've had a better summer since the Balsillie fiasco, I challenge you to name it..

The players we signed, while certainly not at the top of anyones "sexy" list, are certainly better than what we usually get in the UFA market, which is typically jack squat, and whether you like the cost of them or not, they do fill some holes in the roster. And a I have said now ad nauseum, until and unless these signings keep us from signing a player we need more, then who cars what they cost, as long as they deliver on what we need them to do

Im not jumping for joy, but Im also not wringing my hands or morose...

On mobile right now, but I'll dig through later.

I think the money could have been better spent on keeping players like Halischuk and Blum and adding someone like Grabovski.

The only reason this is good is because we sucked bad enough to get a high pick.

spending more money on Hali and Blum would have been the waste... they are sooooo good 30 teams passed on them on the waiver wire and both signed two way deals and will likely be AHL players from here out

and Grabo is nice but not so much nicer than Cullen to warrant the money remaining on his contract that we would have been responsible for had we claimed him on waivers

Welcome back

IMO, Nashville is still clearly rebuilding. Poile's plan is to wait and see what we have in our young forwards. No way he thinks our UFA additions fixes our offense. The bottom six is pretty amazing now, but the elephant in the room got ignored yet again.

By no means does the UFA moves make us a contender but we are better with these moves. I liked Hali and Blum was meh but spending the $$ on them instead of who we did spend it on would have been a travesty! Hali and Blum were both very timid average players. Nystrom and Hendricks, by no means are great players, will not take kindly to anyone pushing our players around. Except for a few players (Clune, Weber, Fisher and sometimes Yip) we had no one that would protect our better players. I don't see that being a problem now with Cullen, Nystrom and Hendricks plus they can play as good or better than who they replaced. We HAVE become a more physical and tougher team, which is good since we play teams like LA, Anaheim, Dallas, SJ, Van and StLB who have been more physical than we have been.

Just saw this on Yahoo and it made me laugh.

Quote:
Alex Radulov on his curfew violation during the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs: “I said to them at the time, 'Come on, I’ll do the tests and they’ll show that I haven’t even had a glass of beer, and you can even take a blood sample.' They said that they didn’t need to test me, and just repeated the accusation of being drunk, so I just told them there was nothing more I could do, since they’d already made their minds up.”

If true then that's bad. He's a player that we need so bad but management and him just can't get along. Frustrating.

Didn't Radulov play the game after the late night? Then a couple days later management found out and suspended him. Something doesn't add up here.

I can see why, Radulov has never openly lied right? I mean signing a contract then bolting on it shows us he can be trusted right...

Smith makes the preliminary roster. Legwand and Wilson don't (not saying they should but more than Smith...) Huh?

Poile trying to raise Smith's trade stock?

the more I see Ron Hainsey unsigned the more I believe in Collusion. And sadly Poile is part of it. It's like Poile is choosing to lose to make a point.

I would wait until at least late August before making that accusation.

Smith's performance at this years Worlds entitle him to be included on the preliminary roster. The chance of him making the Olys this time are nil but being on the roster will be valuable experience and he will almost certainly represent the USA at the Worlds some other time.

I also wonder if Poile didnt talk to Legwand and ask him if he wanted to be invited or not. At his age its not like Leggy needs the experience and with his chances of making the team being marginal (as of right now anyway) I can see Poile not naming him.

If by some chance Leggy lights it up in the fall, he can aways be added on.

Personally I think Legwand would be an excellent choice for teams USA's 4th line as a PK specialist but Im sure there are other centers with more offfensive upside who are still good at the PK as well...

how do you know that Hainsey isnt just weighing offers like Grabovski is obviously doing?

Or waiting for someone to get desperate and up their offer??

If there was collusion, do you think Poile would have signed all the playerts he did for what everyone agrees is above market value??

The orientation camp is informational only - no on-ice activities. Wilson simply isn't invited, which is strange to me.

Legwand not being invited is a given. He has no shot.
