Overall Update

I updated the stats for everyone on the first post for starters.

Brodie Dupont will try to extend his point streak to 11 games tonight. Brodie is T-5th in goals in the WHL. Brodie leads the league in GWGs with a total of 4. He scored the GWG in the last 3 games. He's been playing center and left wing as well.

Mike Sauer is a +4 on the last place Winterhawk team (in their division).

Ryan Russell is hoping to be ready to return in 3 weeks to his club. He was top 6 in scoring in the WHL before he went down with the finger injury.

Eric Hunter is not putting up anywhere near the #'s he did last season. Just 4 goals on the season in 14 games, last year he amassed a total of 40. Early in the season it looks like the gamble on this overage player the Rangers drafted doesn't look good.

Defenseman Trevor Koverko is an alarming -11 on the season in 13 games. That is 2nd worst on the team.

Tom Pyatt continues having an outstanding season, his 14 goals in 15 games places him as the 2nd leading goal scorer in the league. He's 8th in points with 25.

2006 draft pick Tomas Zaborsky and teammate of Pyatt is also enjoying a great start, after going scoreless his first 4 games in North America he has turned it up scoring 4G and 12A in 10 games. He has scored a point in 9 of the last 10 games.

Marc-Andre Cliche has 18 points in 14 games which is about on par to his points per game ratio last season.

Ryan Hillier had a very slow start out of the gate but is slowly picking up his scoring.

Artem Anisimov has just 1 assist in 17 games playing in the Russian Super League.

Good news! I knew it wouldn't take long to get settled in and start to impress.

Ivan Baranka is injured...again

Quote:
The Rangers have sent defenseman Darius Kasparaitis to the Wolf Pack on a 10-day conditioning assignment. Kasparaitis, 34, has played in six games with the Rangers and has one assist and 10 penalty minutes. He had shoulder surgery May 10 to repair a tear in his labrum and underwent surgery again June 14 to repair a torn side muscle. ... With wing Francis Lessard (elbow) and defenseman Ivan Baranka (finger) out for a few weeks, the Pack recalled wing Jakub Petruzalek from Charlotte

I realize that one hit is only one hit, but I'm not sure I can put anymore creedance in the 'he's soft and unphysical' claims after seeing that.

I think his anticipation, the way he read the play was the best part of that hit. Kept it clean too.

Pack is up 4-3. For the Pack Callahan 2g, Weller 2g, Helminen 2a, Korpikoski 2a, and Jessiman 1a. Good to see the Pack getting some offense going.

Keep it up Cally! 4G in his last 3 games. Wish Dubi would get on the scoresheet more...wonder who hes playing with...then again he just come back from a hand injury so he might not be at 100%.

No problem. Final 4-3 Pack. Finally we win one and Cally is really starting to pick it up. Now if only we could get Dubi, Jessiman and Korpedo to follow suit.

Oh, and Jan Marek is now at 19 points in 19 games (13-6).

Artem Anisimov is still struggling along in limited minutes, posting just an assist in 17 games.

I mean, when I'm free, I follow as many of the prospects' games as possible. I'll post some short player recaps as often as possible if it helps you, Fly.

Honestly, this is getting old. Especially the Getzlaf comparison. If you truly think that that is the genesis of the issue, then you have no idea of what the real debate is about.

As for anything else, Zaborsky is looking impressive. As is Cliche.

Just havin a little fun. I like Hugh, I think he's a good kid and, like everyone else, am glad to see him improve and succeed. If he eventually makes the Rangers in a marginal role rather than as a star like others in his draft class, is he considered a bust? Probably. Would I rather we chose someone else? Maybe (right now definitely). Wasn't intending to reopen a topic that was beaten to death, just happy to see him doing better.

Anyway, I'm also impressed at how our boys are doing, especially Pyatt. Hope he can become our next Mike York.
